Editing OVL Files
::blush:: Thanks! I'm trying to keep the data as clean and readable as possible so it's useful to anyone, not just us code-monkies. :^Þ I haven't even started making the PDF for the official Tracked Rides yet. That promises to be even more difficult because the number of data points per ride is just so much higher than the Flat Rides. I have no idea just when that will be available... but work is progressing. :^) It's the least I can do to give back to the community that's given me so much enjoyment over the past 20 years. Hopefully the data can be used to revitalize the game a bit. Being able to Mod even more of the game might breathe life into some excellent custom content that goes unused because of limitations in the tools when they were developed. We might even see someone develop new tools to streamline editing. (it won't be me, though... I'm too out of the game to try serious coding these days!) At any rate, your thanks are very much appreciated!

Editing OVL Files
Haven't been around much this last week, but my absence was due to me spending all of my time completing a long-term project... THE INDEX OF FLAT RIDE DATA IS FINALLY COMPLETE! This project is really a big deal, even if you aren't interested in OVL editing because it shows every Flat Ride in the game and what all their stats are... such as Build Category, EIN calculations, Reliability Degradation, Peep Attractiveness, Height Limit, and even the baseline Entry Fee for each ride! No more guessing what your fee should be! Also another update on Editing OVL Files is done and available for viewing! I'm close to completing the CFR section and more work has been completed on the CTR section. (still no progress on CSOs though :^/ ) Comments and criticisms are welcome, as always. :^)

Editing OVL Files
Another update has been posted! This time I've unlocked how to edit some of the original game OVL files so people can change even some default ride properties! (unfortunately, all the Vanilla rides are locked by the game code and cannot be edited in any way :^/ ) Keep watching this thread for further updates!

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 【 I Search a CTR, CFR, CT + Request Thread 】
A Work-in-progress version has been in the Tutorials section since last June. https://parkcrafters.com/topic/100-editing-ovl-files/ I have a lot of work left to do, mostly the section on editing CSOs. (that whole section still is nothing but COMING SOON) Edit: The tutorial has been updated with my latest findings. I just wanted to put it out there that if anyone would like any assistance with editing an existing attraction, I'm more than willing to help... either by walking them through it or just do it for them if that's what they want. That would be awesome! I'd love to have insight into your process! It might even help me with some of my work. :^)

Editing OVL Files
Just a heads up that work on direct edits to OVL files is still ongoing. It's a slow and arduous process of trial and error (with tons of game crashes) but it's paid off in finding the bytes that control what category a CTR or CFR appear in within the game menu. So now THAT can be edited without having to rebuild the entire attraction. I'll be posting up an updated version of the PDF guide soon with the new processes added. One additional area I've started to branch out into is making direct edits to the Vanilla, Soaked, and Wild OVL files so people can change the game's default attraction stats as well! (this is MUCH trickier because the Frontier OVLs are encrypted) I don't even know if it's possible yet, but I'll keep any interested parties up to date on my progress. Edit: The updated tutorial is now posted.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 【 I Search a CTR, CFR, CT + Request Thread 】
I can only speak for myself, but I'm still working on making direct edits to OVL files in order to change their in-game stats, price, etc. I recently tracked down the bytes that control what category a CTR or CFR appear in within the game menu. If anyone would like any assistance with editing any existing CTR or CFR I can help to change Price, Excitement, Intensity, Nausia, Reliability Degradation, Peep Attractiveness, Name and Description to a certain extent, Build Category, Station Speed, Min-Max Chain Speed, Launch Speed, Gravity Effect Factor, Constant Speed Settings, Running Cost, or Operation Mode Options... all without having to rebuild the attraction from scratch. (I'm still looking for the data points for some factors such as Theme, the No-children Flag, Min-Max Circuits, Height Cost, and several other options) So if anyone would like any assistance with editing attractions, I'm up for it! (just don't ask me to try and make new attractions... my art skills are NOT something I like to inflict on the general public :^þ )

I love watching your progress and usually love everything you do with fantastic attention to detail, but I gotta agree with @Kablary here. The details in the BR are just not nearly as good as your other work. Too starkly utilitarian with no warmth to it. Maybe it's the colors or the fixture designs, but "jail cell chic" is the perfect description for it. In the grand scheme of things, it's really a minor thing though. The rest of the details make this less than stellar execution look unimportant. Overall it's still an amazing job, in spite of not quite hitting the mark here. I still can't wait to see more! :^)

It’s Wolfpaw’s Birthday!
Better late than never, they say. Happy Birthday, @wolfpaw! I hope it was a great one!

Missing Vendors ???
Can confirm, there are no Popcorn vendors in RCT3. Since I have Custom Popcorn stalls installed, what I do is have them sell Fries renamed as Popcorn. Since what the peeps are carrying is just a bag with something yellow inside, it works and has the desired effect of making peeps thirsty while satisfying hunger slightly. YMMV.

I can't seem to find my original file archive of the Dream Tower, but I still have the installed folder. I've attached it as a Zip file. Place the contents in your "{RCT3 Install Directory}\Style\Custom" directory You should see the "RCT3-Advanced" directory in the Custom Directory after install. (if you also have either the "Windseeker" or "Magic" flatrides by RCT3-Advanced, they'll be in the same "RCT3-Advanced" folder) Let me know if you have any issues! Edit: Just FYI, I may have edited the original OVLs and forgotten. I think they were originally free and I gave them an appropriate cost. Dreamtower.zip

Hello from a fellow RCT3 player
Echoing @wolfpaw, here. Even if it's just sharing screenshots of parks you build, everything adds to the community. In any event, welcome! Hope to see you around and look forward to your contributions. (no matter what they are... there's no such thing as an unimportant contribution)

I'm back into RCT3
Sorry to hear about your problems. :^/ Hopefully your return to RCT3 will be a pleasant break from games that require Steam to work. (not a fan of Steam, if you couldn't tell... for the exact reason you're now having issues) At any rate, looking forward to seeing what you come up with! RCT3's pyro sequencer is STILL the best ever made... and (in my humble opinion) RCT3's park simulation system is about the best ever implemented. It may not be the best looking, but then I was never into things because they had "cool graphics". What matters is that it's FUN!

Salland's Adventure Zoo
Awesome attention to detail, but there is one thing you got wrong... At 06:40 to 06:58 where you're putting in the cups for the bar area, the cups should be facing mouth down instead of mouth up. Bars and restaurants do this to keep dust from collecting in the cup before it gets used. I know it's nit-picky, but I figured with your degree of detail, you might want to know. Either way, your work is incredible!

Disney Monorails
From the Readme: Installation: Put the folders CTR_Avengerail CTR_Tronorail CTR_CARDisneylandMonorail CTR_CARDisneylandmarkVMonorail CTR_CARDisneylandMonorailCars CTR_WDWMonorail CTR_WDWmarkIVMonorail CTR_MarkIMonorail Into "RCT3 Installation Directory\Cars\TrackedRideCars" and put CTR_ALLMonorailTrack Into "RCT3 Installation Directory\Tracks\TrackedRides" This CTR-Ride requires RCT3 WITH BOTH ADDONS Soaked/Wild! The installation without Addons will cause RCT3 to crash. ------------- "RCT3 Installation Directory" above means the directory where RCT3 is installed. I have this set in my own install and it works as-is provided you have Universal Monorail correctly installed and install the car and track folders in their correct folders. Nothing else is required. Hope this helps!

Hello from the 1930s
Welcome to the best place for RCT3 content! If you were familiar with Shyguy's World, we have all the old files that were hosted there here now in the Downloads section! Thousands of custom objects from hundreds of creators over the years. We have people here that each contribute in their own way... some post up pyrotechnic displays... some post up videos of their coasters... some just comment and have fun! All are welcome here! (including you now!) Whatever you contribute, I hope you enjoy your stay!

Howdy--RIP ShyGuy's World
The process is complete! We managed to get all of the rest of the content from CS Depot over here as of last Wednesday, so it's all here and available now. The only thing we don't have are the contents of the old forums, though shyguy gave wolfpaw a copy of it all, so when he gets the time to do it, wolfpaw can put it up here for reference. (assuming he still intendeds to do so... he hasn't given an update on it in a while... it may be that it's not feasible... I don't know)

Luminous: The Symphony of Us Debuts at Epcot
Having seen it as an adult with my two boys, it's not just pre-teen nostalgia. I've seen just about every FW display DLA has ever done and RDCT was bar-none the absolute BEST. Disneyland Forever was really good too, but it just lacked that certain something that made RDCT so great. Maybe it's my nostalgia that it hearkened back to so many good memories there... but then that's not bad. People like nostalgia, so it makes for a good theme. YMMV.

Comment by: Cvlsoldier February 07, 2014, 11:45:23 AM I really like this pack! The only thing I want to know about it is if the peeps are able to sit at the picnic tables or on the chairs? Even so, it's still good!
