Let's talk about some specs! I mean, we're all PC gamers. Show your setup, brag about your rig, whatever. Maybe even talk about which software/settings help you run games more smoothly. I'm on a laptop, normally, and while it isn't as beefy as my last RoG machine, it does what I want (plus it's perfect for my work).

PC Model   XPS 17 9700
Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz   2.59 GHz
Installed RAM    16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
Display Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650Ti
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

No doubt, mine is a boat anchor compared to some of your rigs, but let's see what is out there in the community!

"There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope." - Mark Twain

I work from home and do everything on my desktop, I upgraded last year and went all out:

RAM: 64 GB
Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K 3.20 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I work in graphic design and UI/UX design for software and websites, I also do some 3D stuff at work and have an interest in 3D environmental art. I also play games so this PC is perfect for everything I do!

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

Hardware

Manufacturer: TufGaming Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700F CPU @ 3.00GHz Installed Memory (RAM): 16.00 GB System Type: 64-bit Operating System Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER

Had this beast for about 3 years now. Takes a beating keeps kicking.

My rig is dated, but solid as a rock and still runs everything I need or want it to:

Processor AMD FX-8350 Eight Core 4 ghz

RAM 32 gb HyperX Savage DDR3 1866 mhz (CAS Latency: 9)

GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Display Sceptre 65" 4K LED TV

Storage 2TB WD Gold boot drive; 2x 16 TB WD Gold storage drives in hardware RAID 1 configuration; HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS40 Internal Blue-Ray Drive

User Interface Logitech K800 wireless backlit keyboard and M510 wireless mouse

Most importantly though, since my system is also my family's main entertainment center for watching movies and TV shows, it needs to be whisper quiet even under load. The GPU is a special fanless cooling type... a totally passive thermal management using an oversized heat sink. The CPU thermal solution is a Noctua NH-L12S with twin 120mm low-noise constant speed fans that you can only hear if you press your ear against the case... which is an AZZA Silentium with noise-canceling foam inside. The drives are all mounted in iStarUSA passive heat sinks to prevent overheating even under heavy load with no active cooling.

I built my system in 2014. The storage drives were updated in 2019, but other than that it's the same system for 9 years running. I used to have a SSD boot drive, but I suffered too many drive failures with SSDs and the data loss recovery was a PITA, so I went with something that has a better MTBF for a marginal speed loss.

Nothing fancy, and it can struggle with large detailed parks like many others experience, but it serves it's purpose as Planet Coaster is really the only game I play on the PC...  And yes, I know it's a Dell.  But I live in Brazil, HUNDEDS of stores selling TONS of components to build a great computer literally a couple blocks from us...too much of it pirated junk from China with no service if something goes wrong.

Hey, I love my XPS. The cooling could be a bit better, so I end up manually throttling my CPU back a bit to prevent damage; but all in all, it's a solid machine.

Yeah, we've had Dell XPS for years, usually replacing them every couple of years, and never any problems.  They work well for my purposes, although this last GPU still struggles with in-game textures on a detailed bench, and that perhaps is due to the game more than the card as the in-game pieces are strict with LOD textures and TMTK items aren't always.

I can't say I'm a fan of liquid cooled CPUs. It's Single Point Of Failure of the worst kind; if something goes wrong with any part of the cooling system, (clogged/pinched lines, pump failure, coolant leak, etc.) you'll fry one of the most expensive parts faster than you could shut it down and effectively kill the entire system.

That's why I have two fans on an oversized CPU sink. The odds of both failing at the same time are astronomical. If I get a fan failure, I can just replace them at my convenience. Same with my GPU... by having a passive thermal solution It can never break down. (I've lost WAY too many GPUs to fan failures over the years... one of which even started a fire in the case!) The lack of ambient noise is also a plus.

Still and all, a decent system. :^)

I envy this setup. I've never broken 12GB RAM and I5.

It was expensive but I figured I need it cause of my job (right? That's a good excuse)

I know I don't have the fanciest of specs. Hoping to add more RAM and upgrade my graphics card. Though I may just build a new PC? Idk but here are my specs:

Computer Type: HP Omen 880

Processor    AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Eight-Core Processor             3.00 GHz

Installed RAM    16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)

System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

2TB SSD and 2TB HDD

Very nice!

I've been unable to do any gaming for the last week or so due to my temps being abnormally high. A couple days ago, I got my Grizzly paste in and reapplied. Laptops are pain to work on lol

However, temps are back to normal now, so that's good. Someone at Dell needs to do better QC on the thermals, just saying. I'm researching parts for a tower build, so I appreciate the info!

Would you believe I do all my shows on an ASUS laptop that I bought in college back in 2012?🫣  I purchased a desktop four years ago but the game always crashes when I reach a few to many particles.  It doesn’t even lag first, just crashes the game.  But my laptop has held on strong!  Takes time to boot up and load the park but it works, haha.

Maybe your desktop GPU failed you. I have a 1070 and it works smoothly with occasional lag when I put a lot of particles

Have it sitting on a cooling fan since I read these GPUs run hot. This is also my workstation for my various tinkering projects so I have a pegboard wall behind the desk with all of my tools.

The power brick on this thing is enormous. It alone weighs as much as the old laptop!

I’m running on a similar machine, same brand and everything, only difference is mine is team red lol. The fans are really loud but the system runs really well especially considering its a laptop.

I don't do any aggressive gaming, but all of the softwares I was using (Photoshop, Movie Studio, RCT3) would take a really long time to load. Now, there are little to no load times. They just open!

Sorry I missed this.
Touch wood, never had an issue with three of my water cooled PCs. The AIO solutions are pretty robust. I agree with you though. Risky if it goes wrong!!
