Ah! Hello! It’s been a while and I should’ve posted this many… many eons ago. I finished school for this semester (Woo!) So I have some free time to spend, so let's get the ball rolling, shall we? I started this project literally the day the game came out. I’ve literally said it a bazillion times, but it was only ever meant to be a dark ride, using the aquatic theme. Just a little omni mover. And then it became two rides. “Check the sightlines... check the sightlines…” Three rides. A whole land! “Check the sightlines... check the sightlines…” Plus a mythology land. Then a Mainstreet. A hub… “Yeah I can fit a whole Disney castle over there. That’ll work fine,” he says, cracking his knuckles and chugging his third monster energy of the day. Then I lost the plot entirely. I added a hotel… (two of them actually,) and service roads to get to those hotels… Three more lands and… fast forward to almost TWO years later, several collaborations with fellow creators later, two semesters of college under my belt now, and we have Planet Park! Which… the name… I’m still not totally sold on? Planet Park consists of 7 themed areas: Art Deco Mainstreet: Home to the biggest FPS drainer in the park, the hotel entrance. One of my favorite areas in the park, just based purely on vibes. Carousel Gardens: Basically just the “hub” but like, giving it a name makes it sound more fancy. Aqualand: The first area completed in the park. The reason why this park is this park. Mythopolis: Do you ever build a facade of something, and then design an area around it? Turns out… horrible idea. This land is a Mt. Olympus-sized thorn in my side. Cactus Ridge Canyon: One of the only lands set in stone. No literally. So much of this land and its theming is just rockwork - so it’s both very fun and very time intensive. But it looks great! Atoms landing: If that Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disneyland, 1960s Tomorrowland and current day cheesy “Astro Blasters” had a baby, it would be Atoms Landing. I even wrote some original music for it! Fantasyland: Is someone playing Funkytown? Why do Ogre’s have layers? None of these questions will be answered in Fantasyland, but at least it’s cute! I will post SO MANY photos, but I wanted to give a little story before we just… jump into the madness that is this park. MAINSTREET Gosh I love Mainstreets. I love that they are the first things you see all happy and bright in the morning, and the last things you walk though when you're shuffling out of the park beaten down and broken at closing. Just me? Okay... My mainstreet is mostly based around Buena Vista Street at Disney’s California Adventure, and the little, itty-bitty main street at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There’s just something about Art Deco architecture that just scratches that itch in my brain. This hotel has inset windows, and my computer - my laptop - sounds like a jet engine when I'm near it. I could cook an egg on my computer when this hotel is on screen. Look at the view! CAROUSEL GARDENS Originally I wanted the park to be an Epic Universe clone - with a twist! The twist being… it would have a castle, and a hub like a disney park, and a carousel in the hub. Groundbreaking. I hope you can tell I'm being sarcastic, because that's not much of a twist... that's like a 15 degree twist. a twizzle maybe. When I added the entrance hotel, I added a whole street at an angle just so I could get that view of the towers like the Beverly Hills Hotel. It made the whole park lopsided, which threw off the whole park! Suddenly, I had so much space on one side, and no idea what to do with it. I guess I’ll add a chair-swing, a carousel… some kiosks… It’s cute! For a little stretch of the park, it almost feels like you aren’t in a massively huge Disney park, and it feels kinda cozy. (The pictures I’m posting are the most recent. With the new updates coming, and the potential for parades, I’ve changed my hub to have a rotary at the entrance, a potential for fireworks seating by the water. I used to have more walkways and trees in this area. It looks a bit discombobulated at the moment, but I hope the general vibe comes across even if it doesn’t look the best.) The carousel was closer to the front of the park, but I moved it over here! No idea if this is where it will stay, but... hey, that's where it is now so... I dunno. Imagine like... walking through here on like a 74 degree day, you're walking to your favorite attraction because you look on the app and see it only has a 15 min wait... the smell of popcorn is thick in the air, the carousel is spinning, the birds are chirping. CUZ ITS A PERFECT DAYYYY, NOTHINS STANDIN' IN MY WAYYY. Oh, sorry, I was Elle Woodsing again. Anyway. AQUALAND Seeing as this land has mostly stayed the most consistent, I will link to a cinematic I took of the land when I finished it! Because the most recent changes to the park happened to this land, I will make the first "update!" post about the Aqualand expansion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkV5GE4jc2E Look how CUTEEE! Okay, more on this land later! I promise! MYTHOPOLIS I hate this land. I hate this theme really. Gosh, it’s just hard to use and make look unique without just repeating yourself a bunch. I tried my best, but I’m sure you can see that I kinda just gave up. I literally started the rest of the park + 2 hotels + relearned music production and created original music for Atoms Landing, did my first full YEAR of college.. And this theme is still just… not speaking to me. Which is why I asked MissBarbare to come in and remix my village facades to make them more steampunky! The list of attractions should include: “Olympians Journey” (Splash mountain but it’s mythology.) “Curse of Medusa” A launch coaster (hidden in/under the big Mt. Olympus) “Flight of Icarus” spinner flatride. “Minotaur” a dark ride and the exterior is based off the palace of Knossos The only ride finished is the flat ride. I love the mythology theme! :) It’s my favorite theme to use in the game! :) will reverse psychology work? I love it so much! :) please work. It’s so fun! :) Check the sightlines...Check the sightlines... This video makes me cackle, and... well... here ya go. I mean, MissBarbare Just does stunning work. ROUND OF APPLAUSE. 👏 She transformed this space and made it more steampunky, and it really gave me some hope that I can make this theme into something better than just... generic mythology/Mediterranean. Not that there is anything wrong with doing that - that's not at all what I'm saying - I've tried to get it to work in this park for nearly two years, and I can't. I just gotta pivot. PIVOT. PI-VAUGHTTT. I'm being dramatic on purpose. It's actually my mission this summer to finish this land. Like it truly is. IT WILL HAPPEN! CACTUS RIDGE CANYON Welcome to landscape simulator 2k26. So the lore for this land is that it’s an abandoned mining town. Florals for spring. Groundbreaking. Unlike Mythopolis I built the rides first, then got bogged down by the rockwork. My second least favorite thing to do in this game besides career mode. Honestly a pretty cute little land! The list of attractions: “Minetrain” It’s basically just Big Thunder, but the first drop is kinda like Expedition Everest. “Raft Ride” unnamed… “Mini Train” for the scenery! Reminiscent of “Journey Through Nature's Wonderland” at Disneyland. I dunno, just a cute, quiet little train journey through the landscape. “Mine Drop” x2, a thrill, and wouldn't it be cool to have little “floors” with mine carts and TNT and stuff on triggers? YEAH! EXPLOSIONS! “Shooting gallery” is it really a western area without a shooting gallery? It’s going to be hidden behind a facade of a western storefronts. “Flippy-flip-the-flipity-flip-flop-floop-flip” which I’ll be theming to a steampunk machine - and no that's not the name of it, but it's the one that like… flips you. The game says it’s called “mecha roller” which is SO BORING. Beaver Dam Bridge in the background on the right... I just thought it was funny! ATOMS LANDING Originally this land was going to be a Star Wars land. Like I was building a version of Batuu in a separate map, and I was just going to import it. Sorted! Only it wasn't. Because then it was going to be a weird 50s Star Wars land. Then it was going to be a toyland. Then it was going to be an “Aliens invade” land. Then it was going to be… Basically what I'm getting at is that this land has had an identity crisis since the beginning. Just like real Tomorrowland! Truly a real authentic Disney parks experience! So, that pesky little toybox park came out, and I wanted to do something with it… but what. Well, I asked MissBarbare if she'd be interested in doing a dark ride together. At this time, the shooty ride was new, and Max Stormcloud was an icon, a legend, a force to be reckoned with. We saw an opportunity to make a “Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters” clone, and OH BOY it is turning out so good! I may have bit off a little bit more than I could chew before my semester started again, so it’s a bit of a WIP, but that’s alright. I wanted to make a little city like the one in the Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disneyland. I LOVE that land. Well, kinda. I don’t understand dedicating that much land to one single attraction in a park, but the land really has so many adorable details. I wanted to keep the idea of the 50s, and make it kinda retro? This area also gets some updates soon, but I will keep it hush hush for now. Attractions: “A.C.E. Laboratories" an omnimover based off the old "Adventures Thru Inner Space” at Disneyland. “Max Stormcloud Saves the Universe!” AIR GUITAR SOLO “Orbitron” Spin-spin flatride. “Crystal Space Mountain” so it’s like Space Mountain, but also like crystal pepsi, so… It's like both. So it's worse in every conceivable way, and leaves you confused as to why they made it in the first place. Look at that anti-gravity technology keeping up the little scale buildings! The future is here, the future is NOW! FANTASYLAND Sorry I can’t hear you, can you turn down the Shrek 2 soundtrack? I SAID CAN YOU TURN DOWN THE SHREK 2 SOUNDTR-thank you. This is the least developed land. The castle isn't finished because “I will get to it when I get to Fantasyland.” Meh, it’s not my favorite theme, but the sorcery pack is pretty cool! Why is it based off “Far Far Away?” Because I thought the meme of making a Fantasyland sign as the hollywood sign was funny, and then I made it visible over the shoulder of the castle, and then It became too funny, and then I spent too long manicuring the sightline so that the sign could still be visible from mainstreet, even if my laptop didn’t allow the art shapes to be seen that far away, so now I’m stuck with this shitpost of a meme, and this land that is themed to Shrek. Like I’m not even sorry, that movie is a masterpiece. If you’ll exCUSE ME, I NEED A HEROOO. PLANNED ATTRACTIONS: “Dueling minecart coasters” in the Hollywood hills “Carousel” obligatory behind the castle “Teacups” spot of tea? “Some dark ride” Dude I don’t know. It’s Fantasyland, it needs dark rides! “WIZ BIZ” I wanna use those wizard animatronics in a dark ride SO BAD so a ride based around like… WIZARD BUSINESS would be so fun. Well that just looks like fun. So anyway... That's Planet Park. I need to find a better way to upload images haha but ~WEEE! I will be back to post more! - Oak :)
