Oh JB...you know you would have gotten it wrong anyways...  🤣 LOL

However, even though your record here is dismal at best, I'm going to join you in choosing D: The employee that created the candy

So if anybody leads anybody astray I won't be ME getting blamed this time!  (I blame the nerd who came up with "Mickey" rather than the name that made actual sense on that last one!).

Wow, now you guys are putting pressure on me! I kinda like the idea of leading people astray; it's my chosen path in life. I think Wowman waits to see what my answer is, then picks one of the other choices, whether it's the correct answer or not. Yes, I'm sure that's how it works. :classic_tongue:

Question 7: Topic of Big Business

What was the first charge card called?

A: Diner Club
B: American Express
C: Bank Americard
D: Eurocheque

What was the first charge card called?

I think I read this somewhere...I really should ask Citytrader as he around back then...but I'm going to say A: Diner Club

See JB...you (finally...) got one right!!!   Yay!

Now I'm angry that I got one right. It ruined my perfect record. 😠  I'm going to look over Wagi's shoulder again and copy what he wrote, A: Diner Club.  I do know there was a movie from the 1940s(?) with "Diner Club" in the title. Maybe starring Danny Kaye? I've never seen it though, so I'm not sure. (I'm really resisting the urge to Google it right now!)

Question 9: Topic of Big Business

What do many farmers add to their cow’s conventional feed as a cheap substitute for corn?

A: Skittles

B: Dandelions

C: Baby formula

D: Carrots

Hmmmm, well, I can't imagine it would be Skittles or baby formula; those things are expensive!  I suppose if the farmers grew their own carrots, that would be pretty cheap. But dandelions are everywhere!  So I'll say, B: Dandelions. (If the answer is Skittles I'm gonna beat you up. :classic_tongue:)

Oh wait... Dandelions are quite bitter, that would probably affect the taste of the milk. I'm changing my guess to, D: Carrots. I know it's usually best to go with your first instinct, but my first instincts, stink.

Hmmm...a difficult one!  I don't think it's dandelions, both because as JB pointed out - they are bitter and could affect the taste of the milk...plus I don't recall ever seeing large fields of dandelions waiting to be harvested for cattle food (not counting my old next-door neighbors back yard...).

Growing up near farms I'm thinking carrots (as were potatoes) can be a choking hazard for cows, especially since they repeatedly burp them up and re-chew what is a hard texture unless they are finely ground up..

Baby formula is possible, although it has a lot of proteins.  It is made largely with milk byproducts, which baby cows certainly consume.

But I seem to recall a news story some years back where excess or damaged candy (it might have been Skittles, I don't recall...) was hauled to feedlots to give to cattle.  Seemed strange but I think they mentioned it was because of the sugars and starch found in the candy, which would also be found in the corn.  I don't think it's a widespread thing, just cattle near a candy factory I'd think.  I may be going out on a limb here...

But my guess is  A: Skittles

Wow, we're all over the place on this one. I figured the farmers would grind up the carrots in some sort of machine and add them to the Purina Cow Chow. I hate to admit it, but I also have some vague memory of candy being added to cow feed. But I refuse to acknowledge it! :classic_angry:

You guys are cracking me up. You really should think about officially joining the game live next time I have some openings. This way I can track how you really do or not.

Answer to Question 9: Topic of Big Business

What do many farmers add to their cow’s conventional feed as a cheap substitute for corn?

A: Skittles and other candy, chocolate, cereal, or molasses. Sugar helps cows with digestion, increases milk production and fattens up beef cattle.

Mars Inc. sells their unused candies to companies that melt them down and add to livestock feed.

Farmers typically buy this to save money when the cost of corn (the typical sweetener used) is too high.
