March 10Mar 10 Bonus question: I DON'T KNOW! Quit asking such hard questions!!! :-D I suppose the Coriolis effect would tend to keep the storms in their own hemisphere, not crossing the equator. BUT, I gotta think that other factors are at work, and the hurricanes/typhoons aren't gonna care about no dang Coriolis effect. Sooo, B: False
March 12Mar 12 I'm going to agree with JB and Wagi and choose B: Monaco also. For the bonus question, I'm going to say A: True. I remember there's something about wind moving clockwise in one hemisphere and counter in the other, or the earth spins faster at the equator than at the poles, which stops hurricanes or typhoons at the mid point of the earth or something like that. So as Wagi said, the equator is an imaginary line, but the effect is real. Now I want to look it up!!! 🤣
March 13Mar 13 Author Correct answer for Question 16: World GeographyWhat is the most densely populated country in the world? B: MonacoAs you suspected...because of its size...Also, the second smallest country in the world, it has about 38,000 residents in just under 500 acres.
March 13Mar 13 Author correct answer to Bonus Question.True or FalseHurricanes and typhons never cross over the equatorA: TrueDue to the Coriolis Effect. Believe it or not the swirling earth has everything to do with this. Here is a picture of all modern hurricanes and typhon tracks that show this incredible phenomenon.
March 13Mar 13 Author Back to World Geography: Question 17The longest place name in the world is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, is located in which country?A: AustraliaB: FinlandC: ScotlandD: Wales
March 13Mar 13 D: Wales. And that's my final answer, too. I don't know much about Wales, but I do know that the Welsh language makes for some really long, unusual, and impossible to pronounce place names. Although, I can see how the other choices could also be correct. Basically, the Welsh folk can be divided into two groups: baleen and toothed. :D
March 14Mar 14 D: Wales is correct. However, the question should be in what country is the longest town name as the longest officially recognized place name in the world is Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauo tamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu, which is a hill in New Zealand. {no spaces!}(Yes, I had to look up the spelling, but knew it was a hill in N.Z.) 😁And again, Social Studies teacher!!! March 18Mar 18 Author Correct answer for World Geography: Question 17The longest place name in the world is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, is located in which country?D: Wales
March 18Mar 18 Author World Geography: Question 18What tiny and unusual museum is housed in the back rooms of Holy Trinity Church in Dalston, London? A: Museum of the WeirdB: Museum of Holy RelicsC: European Dinosaur Fossil Collection D: The Clown’s Gallery and Museum
March 19Mar 19 Seems like the Museum of the Weird wouldn't be so tiny (There's a lot of weird in the world!). Ditto, dinosaur fossils. Holy relics seems too obvious. So, I'm going with D: The Clown’s Gallery and Museum.
March 19Mar 19 I have zero idea, but I'll tag along with JB just so he thinks someone might find his answer plausible...unlikely as that may be. So D: The Clown’s Gallery and Museum.
March 19Mar 19 D: The Clown’s Gallery and Museum. If I remember right, it's something about clown faces painted on eggs. No two clown faces are ever alike.
March 21Mar 21 Author Correct Answer World Geography: Question 18What tiny and unusual museum is housed in the back rooms of Holy Trinity Church in Dalston, London? D: The Clown’s Gallery and Museum
March 21Mar 21 Author World Geography: Question 19What country does not have any mosquitoes?A: IcelandB: ChadC: SwitzerlandD: Tibet
March 21Mar 21 Hmmm, I'm thinking maybe because it's so far from other land masses, and cold most of the year, it might be A: Iceland
March 21Mar 21 I'm torn between Iceland, for the same reasons as Wagi, and Tibet; also a cold place. Mosquitoes need food, and the blood of animals is their food. So the question is, which of those two countries has more 'food'? I'm guessing that Tibet has more animals (yaks and such). And Iceland always looks so barren. So I will also say A: Iceland.
March 25Mar 25 I'm going to assume Iceland as well, and if that's true I'm going to move there immediately (I'm in FL, I'm VERY tired of mosquitoes) there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
March 25Mar 25 Author World Geography: Question 19What country does not have any mosquitoes?A: IcelandDue to cold weather, and mostly the lack of ponds. There is one in a jar of alcohol at the Natural History Institute.A biologist caught one after chasing it around the inside of an airplane. As far as they know it’s the only mosquito in Iceland.
March 25Mar 25 Author Question 20: World GeographyThe oldest zoo in the world is located in…A: New YorkB: ViennaC: ParisD: Bangkok
March 25Mar 25 Hey, these questions are getting harder! That's not fair. I would've guessed Beijing; seems like something a Chinese Emperor would have around him. I don't know if Thailand had Emperors, but I'll go with D: Bangkok, for no particular reason.
March 26Mar 26 Jeez...no idea. But I'm going to guess that this refers to a public zoo and not just some rich rulers animal collection maybe? So I'm gonna pick B: Vienna because I'd think all the animals in Paris might have gotten eaten during the Revolution (wasn't that in Les Miz? All that chopping and cutting off heads it gets confusing...).
