Wikipedia and a bunch of books on the history of Apple all have it wrong I guess.
February 26Feb 26 Author Sometimes, my sources are not correct, but fact checking is sometimes hard to do.
February 26Feb 26 Author Looking into this more and finding the story on what I believe is the official MAC website....He did work on apple orchards and it is believed that the apple term came from that because it was a word that rolled out easily. He also said that it would at the beginning of the phone, and before Atari was an added benefit.
February 27Feb 27 Definitely B: Sweden. They have excellent waste to energy conversion. The U.S. could take a page from their book.
February 27Feb 27 I'll tag along with Rich on this one. I don't have a clue, although I've never heard of Canada importing garbage, nor Portugal.

I don't have a clue, although I've never heard of Canada importing garbage, nor Portugal.Actually, several European countries do import garbage to burn. No garbage, no fuel. No fuel, no electricity! Sweden is a shining example of this. Only 1% of Sweden's trash is sent to landfills. By burning trash, another 52% is converted into energy and the remaining 47% gets recycled. Here in the states, we only recycle 30% of our garbage, which is only a 7% increase since 1960. Over 60% of our garbage goes directly into landfills. Pretty sad, actually. In Europe the incinerators run much cleaner than similar facilities here in the states, but the energy companies here in the U.S. will not upgrade/install the better equipment. Might cut into their profit margins and CEO bonuses to actually spend money on upgraded infrastructure!I guess you can tell I teach Economics!
March 3Mar 3 Author Correct Answer to Question 14: World GeographyWhat country has so little garbage that it has to be imported…an estimated 2.3 million tons a year?B: SwedenAs many of you already figured out...A quarter of a million homes are powered by the incineration of waste, but because they recycle so much, they actually run out of trash and have to import it from other countries.
March 3Mar 3 Author Question 15: World GeographyThe Amazon river basin is in 9 countries in South America. Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Suriname, and French Guiana are just some of them.Which one of the four listed below is NOT one of the remaining three countries?A: PeruB: ColumbiaC: ArgentinaD: Guyana
March 3Mar 3 Wagi probably knows of which he speaks; him living in Brazil. I'm picturing the South America map in my head... IIRC, Argentina is in the lower southeast corner, which would place it farrrr away from the Amazon. So I too will say C: Argentina.
March 5Mar 5 Author Correct answer for Question 15: World GeographyThe Amazon river basin is in 9 countries in South America. Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Suriname, and French Guiana are just some of them.Which one of the four listed below is NOT one of the remaining three countries?C: Argentina
March 5Mar 5 Author Question 15: World GeographyA bit differently formatted question today…with a ‘fill in the blank’.There are eight countries of the world that end with “-land”.FinlandIcelandNew ZealandPolandSwazilandSwitzerlandThailandWhat is the last one?
March 6Mar 6 Well, the one that's sort of been in the news of late: Greenland. Although, it's 'owned' by Denmark (or so I've heard in the news), so maybe that disqualifies it? Netherlands has an "s" on the end. Newfoundland is part of Canada, as is Prince Edward Island. I can't think of any others so I'll stick with my first guess.
March 6Mar 6 Author think harder - Greenland is not technically listed in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) list of countries. Edited March 6Mar 6 by Wowman
March 6Mar 6 ^ Oh yeah, Ireland! Unless Ireland is considered part of the UK? Like Greenland is part of Denmark. Also, there's Scotland, which is always trying to be its own country... I lost track. Have they succeeded in that quest? Now I have a headache...
March 6Mar 6 NORTHERN Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, just as Scotland is...at least at present. 😉
March 7Mar 7 Going with Wagi again here. The Republic of Ireland. Scotland and Northern Ireland are indeed part of the U.K.
March 9Mar 9 Author Correct answer to Question 15: World GeographyA bit differently formatted question today…with a ‘fill in the blank’.There are eight countries of the world that end with “-land”.Finland, Iceland, New Zealand, Poland, Swaziland, Switzerland, and Thailand. What is the last one?Ireland This was a tricky one especially with Greenland in the new so much lately. There are eight accepted criteria that determine whether an entity is an independent country or state. An entity need only fail on one of the eight criteria to fall short of the definition of an independent country. Greenland, England, (and Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales to name a few more) are not themselves listed in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) list of countries, they technically can not qualify as valid answers for this question even though many still refer to these as countries.
March 9Mar 9 Author Question 16: World GeographyWhat is the most densely populated country in the world? A: TaiwanB: MonacoC: IndiaD: South Korea
March 9Mar 9 Hmmm, another tricky one. Smaller countries are going to have denser populations for the size of the country. I always hear how India is so densely populated, but India is large, and the majority of people are going to live in the cities, not the rest of the country. And Monaco is so danged small, it's population can't help but be dense. So, B: Monaco
March 10Mar 10 Author Bonus Question while the other one is still open.True or FalseHurricanes and typhons never cross over the equatorA: TrueB: False
March 10Mar 10 I'm going to agree with JB and choose B: MonacoFor the bonus question, I'm going to say B: False. I know they change names depending on where they are, but the storm itself I don't think is restricted by an artificial line, so can cross it.
