June 13, 20251 yr Hello dears Planco creators !I guess most of you do know Space Mountain in Disneyland Paris. And I think some do know about what it might have been !Before Space Mountain was built and opened in 1995, the main concept was more ambitious. If the idea of a steampunk theme, the mountain, and a space coaster inside it was already there, there was more. In fact, the idea was to have a small indoor land, with the nautilus as a restaurant and a walkthrough, and a drop ride based on journey to the center of the earth. You were supposed to be inside Vulcania, the extinct Volcana used as a base by Captain Nemo to create and repair its Nautilus. There would be obviously water inside, rocks and maybe even more.At some point on the concept, even a dark-ride was thought. However, because of the difficult start of DLP, this was scrapped, and Space Mountain : De la Terre à la Lune was made.Fun fact, the name was supposed to stay, and that's why for many years, you could see the letters DM on some bridges near the area. Now that we have Planco 2, with more opportunities than the first game, I will try to make my own version of this Discovery Mountain project !There will be a restaurant in the Nautilus, pretending you're underwater, a freefall, a coaster and maybe another ride, that I still have to process.Of course, it will be put into a lot of theming, which should be the very long part of the job.Anyway, here some pictures of the very beginning of all this. The very backbone of the structure. The freefall will be outdoor for its top height.Sneak peak of the drop tower and the coaster. The gate to the submarine restaurant, and the inside of it.It will be slightly remade to be functionnal with the upcoming restaurant update in a few days.Still a long way to go, and it's very likely that some things might evolve during the build.Feel free if you have any comments, tips, tricks or ideas !
June 13, 20251 yr This sounds like a fun project. I'll be watching. "Oh Blanche? Ya know we've got rats in the cellar." -- Jane Hudson (What Ever Happened to Baby Jane)
June 16, 20251 yr Looks awesome! I watched a recent tribute video for the original concept, and it was insane at what the original idea was for Discovery Mountain. This will definitely be interesting to see how it turns out.
February 10Feb 10 HelloFirst of all your nautilus is insanely good , the interior is great and the organ is so well made. Also just seeing the name of the project I was exited! I love the story being the Discovery Land space mountain to the point were I made my own version for one of my park based on one of those old concept art!Cannot wait to see where the project evolve and grow!
February 11Feb 11 You know I missed this thread when it first came out...from the date this was when I was in the hospital after knee replacement, so I missed a few weeks of being on the computer. I sure hope this project continued on, it's quite impressive in some of the things you came up with (love the organ and the Nautilus interior!)
February 11Feb 11 As it's been 8 months since this was posted, I think Clrun4 has left the building. It's a shame, is this has such so much potential. I hope I'm wrong. "Oh Blanche? Ya know we've got rats in the cellar." -- Jane Hudson (What Ever Happened to Baby Jane)
