Question 43: What State Question?

What US state has parishes instead of counties?

A: Texas

B: Louisiana

C: Rhode Island

D: Idaho

Yep. B: Louisiana. Not sure why they're called parishes. I suppose it has to do with their French heritage?

B: Louisiana.

They are called parishes because of the Roman Catholic church. New French and Spanish settlements always grew up around churches because the missionaries would be in the area before settlers to try and convert the natives.

Question 46: Science Question

What is special about the temperature minus 40 degrees?

A: It’s the temp that all known liquids will freeze
B: The only Temp that is the same for Fahrenheit and Celsius
C: The average temp of the North Pole
D: This is the temp that carbon dioxide freezes

Ooh, a little-used brain cell just kicked in when I read this question. I'm pretty sure it's- B: The only Temp that is the same for Fahrenheit and Celsius. I think I'm remembering this from junior high science class back in the mid 1960s!

I think JB is actually correct (see, read his post...this time...) B: The only Temp that is the same for Fahrenheit and Celsius

As an American living in a metric country, I still have one app set to display Celsius, while another app displays Fahrenheit. Not really for my benefit but so that when on a call to family in the States who invariably ask how hot it is here I don't have to break out the calculator to do the conversion math...

-40°F - 32 = -72 / 1.8 = -40°C

Always show your work. ;^)
