Questions 60 and 61: Last of the TV Questions

The cookies that the Cookie Monster enjoys on Sesame Street are actually made of what?

A: Painted rice cakes

B: Styrofoam

C: Graham crackers

D: They are actually real cookies

What was the first HDTV broadcast?

A: The first SNL show of the 2000 season

B: The 1998 launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery

C: The 1995 Super Bowl

D: The 2005 World Series

Totally guessing again.

For the 1st one: I'm tempted to say "real cookies", but that would get quite messy and the crumbs would probably attract insects and vermin. So I'll say B: Styrofoam

For #2: C: The 1995 Super Bowl. Seems like it's the biggest TV event and always gets the most attention.

I believe the cookies are actually A: Painted rice cakes.

The first HDTV broadcast was John Glenn's return to space during B: The 1998 launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery.

Correct answers for Questions 60 and 61: Last of the TV Questions

The cookies that the Cookie Monster enjoys on Sesame Street are actually made of what?

A: Painted rice cakes

Real cookies have too much grease and would ruin the puppets fabrics. The rice cakes are painted to look like cookies.

What was the first HDTV broadcast?

B: The 1998 launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery

So in my live game I run....we are starting the playoffs and I moved away from specific topics for a while, so a mix of topics coming up. Sometimes there will be one question, sometimes two.

Questions 62:

In what year was New Year’s Eve first celebrated in NYC’s Times Square with a ball drop?

A: 1901
B: 1907
C: 1921
D: 1946

Questions 63:

Which famous filmmaker once aspired to be a race car driver but gave up the dream after surviving a car accident three days before his high school graduation?

A: Alfred Hitchcock

B: Quentin Tarantino

C: George Lucas

D: John Hughes

Argh! Ask me something I know!

NYC ball drop: I'm gonna say C: 1921 because it sounds like a "Roaring '20s" thing.

Filmmaker: C: George Lucas. Only because "American Graffiti" featured some street racing.

I may change my answers to whatever citytrader's answers are, because he always seems to get the questions correct.

I know the ball was pre-war, because I remember reading it was dark in '42 and '43 because of the war, so I'll go with JB and say C: 1921.

I'm pretty sure JB is also correct in picking C: George Lucas.

JB, you may actually be two for two!!!

Questions 64:

In 1997, CNN decided that the following natural wonders would be the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.

1. The Grand Canyon

2. The northern lights

3. Victoria Falls

4. The harbor of Rio de Janeiro

5. Mount Everest

6. The Great Barrier Reef

What was number seven?

A: The Amazon River watershed
B: Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding Serengeti
C: Paricutin (a cinder cone volcano in Mexico)
D: The Rhine River Valley

I'm totally guessing and saying C: Paricutin (a cinder cone volcano in Mexico)

I was leaning toward the Amazon, but they already have the harbor at Rio, which is pretty close to the Amazon watershed (I think about 100 miles), so I nixxed that answer. The Rhine river valley is way too built up and altered by man to be a natural wonder, so I coin tossed the other two!

I agree with citytrader that the Rhine River Valley is too developed to be 'natural'. But cinder cones are a dime a dozen. So I'm gonna say A: The Amazon River watershed

Questions 64: (geography)

What is the deepest river in the world?

A: Congo River

B: Nile River

C: Amazon River

D: Colorado River

Hoo boy. Time to make a fool of myself again. I would've thought that all of those rivers were fairly shallow... evidently not. In honor of the color of the text, I will make a blue-sky guess and say A: Congo River, only because I know practically nothing about the Congo.
