PCA 2024 Nominated Starlight Studios Park - Season 2 Opening Day

Hello all!

It's been a while but I have had some time to boot up PlanCo and start yet another studio park...

I love studio-themed parks! I could literally spend all day riding the backlot tour at Universal Studios Hollywood (save for a couple of features). What kind of attraction is "Lights Camera Action"?

This gives me strong backlot tour vibes, which is sadly no more in Hollywood Studios, but yours looks super cool so far! Excited to see what you do with this park - will most rides be themed after actual movies or are you just aiming to replicate that behind-the-scenes vibe?

Thanks! It is a Behind the Scenes of some of the movies/shows the Studio has produced. In reality, it's dodgems!

Thanks for your comment. Bit of both. I may throw in some IPs but it's going to be a mix.

THE BURGER FACTORY! That theming is incredibly creative.

The Burger Factory also caught my eye. I love the 'exploded' burgers on the smokestacks.

Love the city street backdrop section you have, that's always the quintessential studio set for me! Very creative stuff you have so far, looking forward to more!

I thought I would talk you through the current progress...

The resort entrance plaza surrounds the Studio Fountains.

Alongside the feature is the Hard Rock Hotel, a staple of any studio resort. The main entrance now has Ticket booths. I am struggling with the design of the main entrance building so that's why it's very empty at the moment.

 

Lights Camera ACTION! is your behind the scenes look at the films and TV shows that the studios has produced. In the sound stage is a dodgems to allow guests to q etc.

Zombies! City Escape is the latest addition. It's an indoor shooter attraction. 

The ride exit has a zombie photo opportunity too.

I like your liberal use of zombies on the outside of the ride: rooftop and caged. They are an exciting visual to draw the crowds in.

Gotta draw them in somehow!

Here's a little teaser to the first non studio owned IP based attraction coming to the park...

I suppose I better start thinking up a name for the park...

Soft Opening

I wanted to open the park to get a flavour of guest movement and already I can see I need to extend quite a few queue lines... Soon I'll be switching this thread over 'story' based updates rather than WIP.

I like the coaster/s being set up on concrete. many parks now-a-days are like this because they are built over older parking areas as that's the only expansion space available.

I like how the entrance to the Dragon-Coaster resembles the old RCT 1 & 2 ride entrances. Don't know if that was intentional or not.

Oh, I like the urban feeling in this one, the concrete and all. The theming of "The Rack" surely adds to the chaotic feeling of the ride, loving the mess

It wasn't a choice but I am glad that you like it.

So then, welcome to STARLIGHT STUDIOS!

We're getting closer to opening day here at the park. The final touches have been added to the entrance. This includes a Staff Entrance to the left which will enter into a backstage space behind Kids Kingdom.

Kids Kingdom is the latest addition to the park and it rounds off the current line up of rides.

We'll leave you with the Central Lot.

The park also is home to two Hotels and plenty of eateries across the park.

These coaster layouts look incredibly cool, love how realistic they all are. I'm also hoping that's a tornado, I want a twister ride!

OPENING DAY

It's finally here. Starlight Studios is opening its gates to the public for the first time.

A fresh, redesigned entrance will great the guests (and staff)

Stunt School dominates the entrance plaza.

The main thoroughfare gives guests some great sightlines.

 Kids Kingdom was quiet at the start the day.

The queue line for both the Carousel and Kastle Maus gives great views of Donny Dragon.

Sadly, Saw: The Final Game did not open with the park. It sat testing all day.

The Rack had a solid queue for most of the day though. Guests were able to get their Saw fix in some form...

There are still areas of the park closed off by facades and development signs.

As a gently reminder, please don't put your hands into the zombie cages...

Again, sightlines for days...

As the sun set on the first full day of operations we took some closing shots

Lastly, a teaser for the newest ride which wasn't quite read to open with the park...

Love what you did with the Tornado icon! It's got some kinetic energy despite being static.

Dragon-Coaster

Nice kiddie coaster. Just enough height and speed to thrill the little tykes, but not make them wet their pants.   I like the storybook colors of the interior walls.
