June 6, 20241 yr Author These are all in game benches attached to paths or plazas...no hiding boxes. I think if you attached the to a restaurant they will be used for that restaurant, but I didn't do that detail. They are just open benches/tables for all to use as needed.
June 13, 20241 yr This seems like such a magical place to visit in real life, especially at night. You've managed to make this area feel so cozy, fantastic job so far! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
June 17, 20241 yr Oh! I didn't realize this festival area was so close to the central fountain plaza. Going back a few pages, I guess you did show us a couple of screenshots that established that fact... I guess I forgot. Thanks for the drone footage.
June 20, 20241 yr That drone seems to have hit a guy's head on the 1st fly-through. I'm surprised it didn't knock the drone out of the air. :^þ Seriously though, I really love your layout! First rate! The idea is to keep an open mind... just not so open that your brains fall out. - Harry Anderson
July 8, 20241 yr Very beautiful shots - I've been thinking about getting into PlanZoo and trying some stuff around. How long do your builds in PlanZoo usually take? You have any good pointers? Your projects are always so beautiful! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
July 8, 20241 yr Author I take a really long time, but thats just my building style. Paths and building take the longest, but I'm pretty fast with the terrain and the placing vegetation. I have the same slow issues in PlanCo as they are pretty much the same. It really just depends on how complex you make the layout and how detailed you want to be. Using pre-builts from the workshop is the best way to go for buldings and more lavish scenery groups. there is a ton out there. you can build a full project off the workshop if you want.

I've never been fully into creating in PlanCo and PlanZoo since I've always mainly been a pyro person but you make the game look so beautiful, makes me want to try something... even if it's something small like a small garden! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
July 8, 20241 yr Author my two favorite games I have ever played. Pretty much the mainstay for me going forward.
July 10, 20241 yr Author One last shot of the Fest area as the sun is setting and twilight comes over the zoo. Next will be the mandrill habitat.
July 11, 20241 yr The giraffe sculpture looks bigger here than I thought. The twilight lighting makes the scene look very welcoming.
July 12, 20241 yr Can you put all your life savings into making this zoo in real life? I'd like to visit, thanks! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
July 12, 20241 yr Author Truth be told...in a way it is a real zoo. Brookfield Zoo is the zoo of most of my real life. Its located outside Chicago. I found a long term master plan for the zoo that I'm using for the blueprint of this project. Am I embellishing...am I making things larger than life...am I adding a few things (or a lot of thing) that are not in the master plan on paper...Sure....this is a game with unlimited funds and just about unlimited space. Thing is....its still real close to what the zoo layout really is. I know this project showed up here when this site became a reality, but I explained a lot of this in the early, early posts of this thread back in the ShyGuy days. As I go into the next area I will reference the plan again and show how I'm trying to follow it. If you are interested...here is the real zoo website. https://www.brookfieldzoo.org/Visit
July 12, 20241 yr Author Also, if anyone is interested. When Planet Zoo was announced, and we were waiting for the release....thats when I decided to build the zoo off the masterplan. I started doing investigation on the history of the zoo and zoos in general. I created a multiple episode video study on zoo design, specifically for Brookfield zoo. You can find this series on my YouTube channel and do a search on my channel for "zoo design" and it will filter down to those videos. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/@weirsgarage/videos
July 15, 20241 yr Author Moving on west from the Fest area. Here is a clip of the zoo master pan that providing inspiration for this project. The fest area is in the area between the fountain and the white highlighted area (in half of the West Mall on the plan). The white area will be the African ungulate area in my project, which will connect to the old pachyderm house, which is now a huge ungulate barn. This white habitat will also include a jeep ride that goes through the habitat. The pink rectangle will be where Tropic World will be built. The blue circled area will be the new Gorilla Rescue habitat. Now we will focus on the green circle which is the mandrill habitat. Here is the actual game shot of this area as these sections mentioned above get laid out. Color highlights are the same as above.
July 20, 20241 yr Author Layout of the Mandrill area. Green is the main habitat. Pink is the secondary smaller habitat. Blue is the animal bridge that connects the two habitats. Red is backstage and keeper area (there will actually be a second red area above the pink habitat side as well.
July 23, 20241 yr Author The start of structuring the shape and sizes of the habitats and surrounding paths.
July 24, 20241 yr I love your planning process, the layout is already coming out nicely even though all you have up is the perimeter. Great updates! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
July 27, 20241 yr Author Looking at the early stage of the habitat build from the African Ungulate habitat (that contains a jeep ride). This is the view of the mandrills from the jeeps.
