August 27Aug 27 Yep, saw this coming.. with the closing of the forums over there and with JW3 coming out, they've entirely shifted focus to JW3 and will release smaller quality of life updates less frequently for PlanCo2. Why give your audience a monthly platform or forum to hear complaints? So they shifted everything to their Discord and YouTube, where it's harder to read those comments and easier to release smaller, more long-awaited updates. there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
August 27Aug 27 Yes, and since the forums closed to focus support on their Discord server, there has literally been no communication from anyone associated with Frontier on that server. Also, I expected the announcement that the livestreams were over. They have been doing weekly youtube trailers for JWE3, and I figured that that format would replace the Unlocked streams, as it's much cheaper to do. The fact that they literally waited until the day of the anticipated livestream to make the announcement is reprehensible IMHO. The fact that we haven't had as much as a hotfix or anything to fix the myriad of problems with the game in 2 months now, the fact that there are things posted in the Issue Tracker since the game released and have not been addressed, proves that Frontier simply doesn't care about their player base. It's about money now, plain and simple. The days of dev teams making games they are passionate about are over. Frontier has moved over to the dark side, and there is no turning back now.I was actually using their Discord server to add to the "Suggestions" section, but I now know that this too, is a complete waste of time, as Frontier will do what Frontier wants to do, with no concern for the community. Does this mean PC2 is dead. I certainly doubt it. They haven't milked us for all the DLCs I'm sure they have planned. IF, they have a plan, which I sometimes wonder about. Right now, it's all about getting as many pre-orders for JW3 as they possibly can. So I don't expect much support for PC2 for awhile. Any DLC that we expected to be coming soon will most likely not drop until Christmas, if anything this year.Too bad I love the kind of games they make. I will continue to play them, and I'm sure I'll buy the DLCs, if and when they come. But I'm not doing it for any kind of support I might have for Frontier. They are just another greedy game development company, like what nearly all the other game companies have become. Staying active in the game is for my own fun...not to support them as a Company unless things change
August 27Aug 27 I guess the fact that not that many people are upset by this shows that it may be no big deal. In all fairness, I expect viewership of the streams was dropping, so they made the decision to just cancel them. Still, notice literally only hours before the expected stream is not nice. August 27Aug 27 I won't miss the streams; they were awkward and unnecessarily time consuming and I would always wait until they were done and then FF through most of it. I don't think most of them wanted to be on camera and it showed. At least once per stream one of them would say they don't particularly like this genre. I do want details on the state of the game on a somewhat regular basis and I'd be happy to read them in a discord post or watch a quick youtube showcase of what's coming soon (game footage only please.)But tying to what I said earlier this week, how they handled this is just more (and now expected) disappointment from Frontier. Waiting all month until the day everyone is expecting the stream and THEN announcing they aren't doing them anymore? They could've done that in last month's stream and frustrated a lot less people. This wreaks of "we didn't really get done with anything for PC2 this month because we're focusing on other things at the moment. We'll get around to it when we feel like it and have no actual roadmap."Two things can be true: The Planet series is one of, if not the best sandbox franchise but it is absolutely in the wrong hands at this moment. And yes, the same can be said about nearly every game out there which is why I'm focusing my anger on this one. I really miss the energy and enthusiasm of the devs during the first 3 or so years of Planco 1 but I definitely feel those days are long gone.
August 27Aug 27 Even if they followed up this announcement with something like "check facebook tomorrow for a special surprise" or something.Something!

Follow up what is most likely disappointing news to most, with something to renew the hype. But no. Another fail for Frontier who doesn't seen to know how to do anything right. Thats the exact reason why the gaming industry is turning for the worse. „you are not entitled to expect anything“„calling them out isnt a healthy customer-company relationship“These people clearly just dont care at all, just like frontier…And then franchises get bad releases, bad reception and get put to the grave. Ill be laughing my bum off when planco 3 comes around and ends up beeing the final nail to the coffin. The themepark genre was so dry for such a long time, and still is. I was realy happy with what frontier did with planco 1 and now they seem to throw that all away. Uts like shyguy said, the franchise is amazing but its in the wrong hands currently
August 28Aug 28 I think this will be the death knell to the Planco series personally. I certainly can't see them going for a 3rd attempt when player numbers dropped off so sharply and so quickly.Planet Zoo will be the bread and butter Planet series and they'll probably attempt different 'management' sims in the future. The only hope I have left for Planco 2 is that they dont just try and flog us repackaged planco1 DLC.Given the way things have gone though, this could very well be how it turns out.
August 28Aug 28 The "Atari-zation" of Frontier seems to continue.Admittedly I seldom watched an entire livestream, and only if there was mention somewhere else (usually their forums...) or an item that caught my interest. I have no interest in the mess at Discord, so the only sources really are Facebook posts (and YouTube videos if linked to them on Facebook). I wonder if I'm an outlier - not someone with multiple windows open chatting away or watching videos while playing? Generally when I play the game - I play the game and nothing else. But then I'm old school and no longer part of Frontier's target demographic. I truly miss the early days of PC1 with the heavy community involvement and communication from Frontier. Even while I stuck with RCT3 for a bit I was still kept up to date on the new game. But that mindset has left Frontier for whatever reason. You can still see it a bit with PZ, both in contacts with the community and in the content they are still putting out, but it's not seen with PC2.I suspect - but certainly don't know - that DLC will continue for a while, a few new things that were already in the pipeline, more returning items from PC1, maybe a added new feature her or there, but I don't expect this game to get anywhere near the content PZ has, nor of the same level. Once the PC1 stuff is all added to PC2, and anything they were previously working on comes out, I expect the game development to end. I don't expect TMTK will be added, which helped PC's longevity.

August 29Aug 29 Sadly, most game companies today are not the same companies they once were. How many once great game developers and publishers have gone down the tubes, or are even hated today? EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Bioware... the list goes on. They've either gotten too greedy, lost their creative flare, produce buggy and low quality games, or all of the above. A company is only as good as the people who work for it. And lets face it, the talented people who created many of the great games of the past are simply not around any more. Which is why every game Ubisoft releases is just a clone of the previous game, just with a different setting. Bethesda, known for its mega hits such a Oblivion and Skyrim, is now making duds like Fallout 76 and Starfield. The talent simply isn't there anymore. Now I'm not saying Frontier is making duds or is not capable of making good games, because they certainly are. But the way they run the company is much different today than it was even a few years ago. The industry has changed (for the worse) plus the people running and working for the company are not the same people who were there years ago. The entire business model has changed, and the need to cut costs, doing the absolute minimum when it comes to community relations, and the almost desperate need to come up with ways to make the most money possible (in other words, milking the players with endless, small, over-priced DLCs or the horrible Pay-to-Play business models seen in many MMOs) is now the norm.So what I'm getting at is these are the reasons why once beloved companies, become hated over time. And this doesn't only affect the game industry. Take Disney, for instance. It is so far from the beloved company it once was. And that's mostly because the talent that Walt assembled in the old days is now gone. It is "Disney" in name alone. They don't seem to be able to come up with anything new and original...just uninspired remake after remake of old, Disney classics. And what's coming out of the Imagineering Dept. for the theme parks is continually less and less impressive. It's because legends such as Bob Gurr, Tony Baxter, and Joe Rohde, no longer work there. So ya, it's just a sign of the times. The entertainment industry as a whole is populated by less talented, less creative, and less passionate people and seem to be only motivated by greed. Yes, there are still a few beacons of light in the game development industry, like Larian Studios, and CD Projekt Red. And Frontier certainly hasn't sunk as low as some of the companies I've mentioned. But they could certainly do better. Planet Coaster 2 should have been a revolutionary improvement over the first. Instead, it seems more like a cash grab with a slightly improved engine and a DLC-sized addition of Water Park stuff. There ARE some really great improvements that they DID make, and I am quite happy with many aspects of the game. But those "wow" moments we got seeing many of the new features and attractions in the first game are simply not there in PC2. But there is no reason why we can't see some great innovative additions to the game in the future...as long as there are still some talented, creative, and passionate developers working for Frontier. But I don't really know if there are, as it IS simply not the Frontier that is used to be. "Do you think it's just sunshine and singing and pretty colors when you grow up? August 29Aug 29 After the June update, they took a break from PC2, and stopped updating us with a roadmap, but they are working on something for PC2 because there is activity since early August on the SteamDB. There was a horror tag that was removed. There could be a horror pack coming out in Sept. or Oct. We need new and old rides back like Centrum, Swift Eagles, Swift Drifters, sports cars, Tri-Storm, Power Moves, a rideable Gravitron although there are fake ones on the workshop including an animated one with an interior. But, they closed the PC2 forum to new replies and are moving away from monthly Unlocked streams. Where will they announce new content like DLC packs and returning content now? Maybe on youtube or facebook? I don't really like Discord. I liked the structure of the forum. I wanted a game that has off grid construction with water park stuff, and a vast amount of rides like RCT3. PC2 could be that but we need more content releases. More ride packs with at least 10 rides per pack like PC1. We got rides in PC2 that weren't in 1 but were in RCT3 like the flying carpet type ride called Parallelagram or something and the spiral slide in the classic rides DLC. I wanted a biome with water at one end like an ocean and without a tiny build area and unmodifiable land like the map in career mode. Edited August 29Aug 29 by Rob K
August 29Aug 29 I have a feeling the swinging coaster will return with the spooky themed DLC. Maybe with bat themed cars and floor less trains.I really hope they fix the bug with the trigger numbers in the next update aswell.
