Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park - Recreation!

Hello! Xec is back with a brand new project! I want to express my gratitude for your support and kind words about Beachside Bay, and for how much fun it was to share it with you all. Here is a new park project which is a recreation of Denver's famous Elitch Gardens!

Elitch Gardens opened on May 1, 1890, in Denver's West Highland neighborhood, originally serving as a zoological garden and cultural venue founded by John and Mary Elitch. Following John's death in 1891, Mary Elitch became the first woman in the U.S. to own and manage a zoo, and she continued to expand the park's offerings, including the Elitch Theatre, which hosted renowned performers like Sarah Bernhardt and Douglas Fairbanks Sr. In 1994, due to space constraints, the park relocated downtown, reopening in 1995 with updated attractions while preserving its historic charm. Today, Elitch Gardens remains a cherished Denver landmark, though future redevelopment plans, such as the River Mile project, may eventually transform the site.

I wanted to preserve the spirit and keep the park alive in RCT3, as it is part of my hometown and one of the best places to visit. If the park does get relocated and changed or closed permanently, then it will always be here for everyone to see! Here is the main entrance with its first phase of construction.

I hope you all enjoy this new project, and I am honored to recreate one of my childhood parks! Cheers!

Looking good so far! Curious about your next update 😊

Thanks! I’ll be working on it as much as I can. Luckily I have tomorrow off work, lol.

Wow, that looks great! I'm glad it turned out so well after all you hard work in sketchup.

Thanks Bookworm! I’m thinking of recoloring the path or adding some concrete separation lines but inside the park is all tarmac so that’s not gonna be an issue. I don’t really like how light the path is because it doesn’t contrast the white on the entrance and ticket booth but I’ll figure it out lol. I might go in 2x2 blocks to section the concrete.

Wow, that CS turned out great! I look forward to seeing this progress, as I'm unfamiliar with Eiltch Gardens. Is this going to be a close reproduction, or something just based on the park.

This is a recreation that is going to be as accurate as possible. Since I took my day trip there and have pictures, including Google Earth, I should be able to make it easily. Thanks dude!

Really cool to finally see that structure in RCT3, it came out great! Good luck with the recreation, it's looking great so far!

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

Thanks man! It’s going to be a fun one. I just have to find the time to work on it. My work schedule shifts around a lot, plus I’m being promoted to a management position soon. I could work 5-8 hours depending on what’s happening, but I will be off this Friday!

Update 1!

I have had to adjust to a new job so I have been taking it easy, but here is the first update that includes the carousel and observation tower! Thanks to Cody, I was able to place the tower with Mr. Twister’s Towers and had to find some work arounds with Shyguy’s packs for the carousel.

What needs adding:

  • Lanterns for the carousel posts, (which are chimneys from Shyguy’s Alpine packs).

  • Different benches around the carousel.

  • Fences blocking the tower entrance. (it has been closed permanently for years but remains a staple landmark in Denver.)

  • Path Lamps and trash bins.

  • Somehow find a way to get a cross shaped path in the middle of the pinkish circle next to the carousel.

Not to see Elitch’s is not to see Denver!
