Posted October 1, 2024Oct 1 If you've been an active member of our Discord server, then this should come as no surprise to you! I've officially begun production on my next big project - which is an exact and ultimate recreation of both World Showcase Lagoon and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth from Walt Disney World's Epcot. This is a huge project and will require many hurdles to overcome, but it is an important passion project of mine as this show holds a very special place for me. Ever since seeing this show in person, it has kickstarted and set a fire in me to be more creative... It was this very show that even got me into RCT3, pyro, and eventually into digital art. (Does this mean I have IllumiNations to thank for getting the professional job I have now? Maybe...) I was extremely saddened to see Disney permanently remove this extraordinary spectacle and I feel the world needs a show/piece like this now more than ever. I've taken it upon myself to try and recreate this show as faithfully as possible to continue the legacy and remembrance that this show has left behind for so many people, myself included. As I've mentioned before, if you've been a part of our Discord server, then you've probably seen me jumping on call and building out this massive project. I'm being extremely transparent with how I'm building this project from the ground up so I invite you to join us sometimes if you ever want to watch or just hang out and chat while I work on this! I've started with World Showcase Lagoon and have quite a good chunk of it completed already but I will begin rolling out official updates on this thread! I hope you look forward to seeing both World Showcase and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth come back alive soon! In the meantime, I'll leave you all with the first official update, direct from World Showcase Lagoon: Kicking off our countries showcase, I've started with The American Adventure! 🇺🇸 I started with The American Adventure as it is situated directly in the center of World Showcase Lagoon. From here, it's much more manageable to create the surrounding countries to make sure it all lines up (and the Lagoon circle actually closes correctly)! October 1, 2024Oct 1 I'm alive! Came back just to see this finally be posted on here. For a recreation done on a 20yr. old game, well done! You've always stated how much the original show (IllumiNations) was far better than any show at EPCOT since. I'm curious to see how you pull it off. What are you using as a reference for the construction of the showcase pavilions? There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow; shining at the end of every day.

October 1, 2024Oct 1 Looking forward to the completion of this project. I just gave him the video on behind the scenes that includes the full globe footage. October 2, 2024Oct 2 I am super excited for this version. It has been amazing following along your progress and even having really good discussions on how to approach different areas. All this for a firework show still baffles me, but that is dedication!

Also, yes, IllumiNations Reflections of Earth is the best show ever and I am willing to die on that hill. October 7, 2024Oct 7 Saw it on the RCT reddit, man it looks awesome! It's just such a shame that RCT3 doesn't add shadows to the custom objects. Fingers crossed they can somehow make that work in OpenRCT3

Diagonals are such a pain to work with in RCT3, happy they're working out here! 😇 I'm pleased to announce that this project is COMPLETE! We'll be hosting a world premiere of the completed World Showcase park and premiering IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth on the ParkCrafters Discord server! The exclusive world premiere will happen on November 1st, 2024 with the countdown beginning at 7:30 PM EST and the world premiere beginning at 8:30 PM EST. Then throughout the month of November, the remainder official country updates will be posted with the official public premiere on November 14th, 2024! The park file and an effect pack that was used in the show will also be released on November 14th as well. November 3, 2024Nov 3 Look at that radio tower! I love the surrounding areas near France like the bridges. Something I have not really done as I keep my parks rather flat. I am using your terrain depth trick for the lagoon at World Of Discovery and I can see it mitigating some of the issues when making bridges and adding curvature to the square lake. This is such an amazing project and really shows you can be a Parkcrafter!

November 5, 2024Nov 5 Looking at all of these pictures, I'm flashing back to the first times I saw some of the most beautiful and professional-looking parks that ever graced the pages of SGW, TCL, AtariCommunity.... and that awe-inspiring feeling of "wow, these guys are the true legends of the game" comes rushing back. You are a legend. sir. How you managed to carve time out to rebuild the World Showcase AND recreate RoE is beyond me. I will never live down missing the premiere on Discord, but I'm very, very excited for the world premiere on the 14th. November 8, 2024Nov 8 The UK is a pretty basic pavilion to build. Not too much that you had to do, so it was one that I know went very quickly in comparison to others. China is a challenging pavilion with trying to get the curvature of the temple just right....then you found the temple in your archives 🤣. A beautiful World Showcase and I will keep saying that it is inspiring and definitely helped me see what sets could do in each pavilion.

I was so annoyed about finding that China pavilion after haha, but the LOD on it is pretty bad so don't think it would have worked either way.
