wolfpaw
Frontier has officially announced Planet Coaster 2! PlanCo2 will include waterparks, use the new Planet Zoo engine, and have updated building mechanics. It's currently slated for a Fall 2024 release and we'll see more information and gameplay on July 31st, 2024. Check out the first announcement trailer below! What are you all hoping to see in Planet Coaster 2? I personally hope we'll see an improved mixmaster/firework engine but that's just me dreaming 2 4 Quote there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
Plokoon111
Very excited to see the additions! Hoping we have scalable ferris wheel, drop towers and more flat ride options that are generic with small foot prints. 2
Wowman
Lots of things I would hope for, but some of the details already released are things that have been asked for from almost day 1 of PC1. Water parks, pools (and for all you management players....everything that comes along with managing pools) , scaling scenery, community shared building, customizable flat rides, improved (so they are saying) pathing, just to name a few!!!!
citytrader
I guess I'm one of the few who could care less for water parks! I want FULL building sets, scalable objects, and indoor attractions! At least now Wagi and I have a deadline to complete our OZ park before we have to start it all over again!!!
Wabigbear
My one concern is how the ability to share and build on park files across multiple platforms is implemented. If they put an object limit like they have on the console versions of the original I'll not be happy as that's a very limiting feature in my opinion. I'm also wondering about TMTK items...will they function in PC2 or are they to be left just in the original? Probably depends on the dlc situation with the new version I suppose... I too don't really care that much about the water parks angle, but the mention of being able to scale things is sounding wonderful...
Kablary
If we get a comparable fireworks simulator to RCT3 in PC2, then I'm all-in. I would LOVE the freedom to build whatever freakin' set I want with the already-superior scenery building tools in PlanCo. Sadly, given how niche the pyro-building community is, I doubt we'll see a really immersive "show" creator of any sort, at least not at launch. I also love the idea of an asynchronus multiplayer option (I immediately thought of @citytrader and @Wabigbear when I heard that was coming ). Would be neat if they enabled some kind of parade float designer, though. With the tools they're implementing to have creators decorate rides with scenic items, I wonder if it'd be possible... you're provided with a float "base," you determine how many to have in the parade, and you decorate them with scenery, mascots, etc and send them down a route in your park. HELLO FRONTIER ARE YOU LISTENING??? 3 Quote Something, sometime, eventually...
Wowman
Parade have been asked for as well a lot in the past. Be sure to enter requests on the official forums. They do read them, respond and take note. The more its asked for odds are we may get it. I would say the two biggest things that really never happened were: Water parks in PlanCo1 and new we are getting in PC2. Birds in Plazoo. I don't think its ever going to happen. Maybe that will be the big ticket item in PZ2?
wolfpaw
I'm sure people have heard me say this a billion times already and I've said this a billion times when they announced Planet Coaster 1 but all I want is a particle editor and a mixmaster like RCT3. Do you have a link to where they are taking requests that you could link here for everyone? I will gladly create an account and spam them every day for a new pyro editor Quote there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
citytrader
Yeah, honestly, I don't see the attraction of having parades in the parks. OK, visually, it would be pretty cool, but all the peeps would have to congregate in one area, while not blocking the parade route, stand around for a while until the parade passes by, and then bolt off to the rides and attractions. I really don't see the appeal. And it seems to be a huge time waster. When PC1 came out, I remember a very vocal minority kept yelling about opening and closing the park. In large parks, it can take upwards of 30 minutes to actually close down and have all the peeps leave. Filling the park back up is quicker, but what's the point? Just a lot more wasted time, IMHO. And if it's set up to to just have the peeps disappear instantly, it just seems ridiculous. I thought the whole idea was to have the park emptying experience, not waving a magic wand and poof! Read some of the comments over on the official website and just laughed to myself. Does anyone actually read the stuff Frontier posted? Frontier already, even in their limited information posted, spelled out a lot of the things that people are asking questions about. Very irritating! (Sorry, having a soap box moment!)
Wabigbear
I don't have Planet Zoo, does anyone know offhand what the limit on piece count for the console versions is for it? Because if the PC version of Planet Coaster 2 has the same limitations so that parks can be shared cross-platforms, it would be interesting to know what limitations we're possibly facing... Weber
It would be nice if they or somebody would allow/make a way to import a scenery set rather than the way TMTK works now. This is why I have shy'd away from uploading anything.
Wowman
As we get ready for the live game play share that will happen in a few days, Here is my list of the top 12 (or maybe more) needs in the new game. I compiled my list that was real close to what the rest of the community is buzzing about.
wolfpaw
That's a good list... but I still really want a good pyro editor and firework designer Excited to see the official gameplay reveal in a few days!! wolfpaw
The first official deep dive of Planet Coaster 2 has been officially revealed! What do you all think so far? I think it's looking amazing so far! Hedgelord, Lord of Hedges
I'm definitely going to make 'animatronics' by attaching pieces to coaster trains.
Wowman
lots of good things to loo forward to and many little hints/things I saw that are yet to still be revealed/shown better. I want to put out another video, but will be out of town til next week.
Cody
I think they are going to reveal stuff little by little. I am super excited for PC2, there is a lot that can be created with it and I am sure we are all going to be freaking out when they announce more stuff. Wabigbear
While I REALLY love some of the things coming to the new game, that's a little tempered by also knowing how much we have now that won't be in the new game. Yes, I know it will gradually improve as DLC is released, but at first it's going to be somewhat slim pickings for the wide array of theming people have grown used to, especially for those who aren't all that into waterparks. Now that they have confirmed that nothing from PC1 can be brought into PC2 because the two games are so different internally, that removes a lot of scenery and blueprints many of use have gotten used to using, sometimes often. I''m sure the community will figure out ways to replace some, but not everything I'm sure that it will be exciting to try out all the new stuff - I'm looking forward to it myself! But can't help but pause to think about all the things we also will not have...

I'm pretty sure they will release DLC content packs in the future, I think that is a given but will they re-release DLC from the original game for the sequel or go for completely new and different items? 1 Quote there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
wolfpaw
The second deep dive of Planet Coaster 2 has been revealed! From a more in-depth look at the path tools, manual flume building, manual coaster building, the new events sequencer, and more, this second deep dive shows off many cool new features! What do you all think? 1 Quote there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
Kablary
I only watched the parts that I felt were relevant to me (honestly I don't think I'll have an interest in building waterslides or rollercoasters), and I have to say the "Event Sequencer" looks like the beginnings of a new MixMaster. Quote Dev 1: *places 4th water jet* "Now that looks quite... quite, you know... that, that sort of gives..." Dev 2: "I feel like it's... it's.. it's....... beautiful." Yikes. We can only hope they expand on it in a future DLC, but here's what I noticed that they didn't talk about in the video ~ Looks like each effect will have a copy/paste function (HUZZAH), however we didn't see if there would be a multi-select option for effects on the timeline. The dev only clicked and dragged individual effects over in the video, and they appeared to snap into place to match other effects. With the option to zoom in/out on the timeline, I'd hope players are able to more closely refine the placement of effects, or perhaps even toggle "snapping" on and off. This effect window also appears to show a "location" button - I'm unsure if this is an existing feature with other PC scenic items, but being able to find the effect or launcher with a button like this would be massively helpful. It looks like we'll be able to add up to 100 different triggerable objects (I'm just going to call them mortars), however it remains to be seen if a nortar can be triggered more than once on the timeline (with a copy/paste function, this should be possible). Lord knows I've used way more than 100 mortars in my past shows...I hope this doesn't become a limitation. I see a bunch of water effect and fog (?) mortars here, but they didn't show anything akin to pyro. Seems silly to have a different mortar for every available variant of a water jet (even though that's basically what we're currently working with in RCT3), but would be nice to have a customizable version where you can set the height, spray pattern, etc of the effect so you only place a single mortar and adjust as needed throughout the timeline. Music is certainly an option for the Event Sequencer! Hopefully adding a song will mean the track will drop into the timeline so you can choreograph the effects to music. So is it a total replacement for the MixMaster? Not right now. Will it eventually? It certainly could be in time. Obviously the devs are not looking to cater to the still-niche group of us who build fireworks displays, BUT DAMMIT WHY NOT!? Quote Something, sometime, eventually... wolfpaw
There is a foundation for a new pyro mixmaster in there for sure, but yes it's not an actual mixmaster (yet). Fireworks in Planet Coaster 2 are still unconfirmed as I have yet to see anything regarding pyro in the game yet from what they've shown but mortars aren't in the game either (from what I've seen). What they are placing down are special effects that just trigger that specific type of effect, you can't place a mortar down and link effects on it from the mixmaster like in RCT3 - that one nozzle will only shoot off that specific effect. As for music, you could add music tracks to the events sequencer in the first game - I don't see an option for that here but it really wouldn't make sense to not have that? What would really be helpful which I honestly don't know if they'll even ever add this in the future is a particle editor or AFE. There's so many different types of firework effects and lasers and fountains, that we need a tool to be able to create our own like in RCT3. Unless they just release packs as paid DLC (which would not be great..) as the effects in the first Planet Coaster were not the prettiest... The foundation for a mixmaster is there, the hard part is done! Creating a timeline and adding things onto that timeline.. just need Frontier to add a particle editor and mortars/pyro then we have a new mixmaster finally after 20 years!! C'mon Frontier I know you are listening, there's a community for this and we're all tired of using a 20 year old game! wolfpaw
Planet Coaster 2 will officially be making a splash and debuting on all consoles and PC on November 6th, 2024! Pre-orders are available now; if you pre-order the deluxe edition, you get exclusive rides and items. They also teased what I'm guessing is their first DLC once the game has been released which is an Atlantis or Greek theme!
