Nice photo! 🙂  I sometimes get a chuckle at your 'split personality'... "I do not recognize the effects. Yet, IRL you were the one who placed it there. Haha!

Happy Sunday! It has been a bit since I have visited the park itself and today I quickly went to see what all is going on.

Never gets old. There are big plans this year since ParkCrafters turns 1 this summer and the RCT3 world turns 20! World Of Discovery has big plans for the celebrations that will be shared soon as fireworks testing has been happening most weekends using the existing barges for Discover.

Mandatory entrance photo. Of course, sponsored by the new home for this project. Since the last formal update, there have been some additions to the core of the park. Much of the remaining spaces will be used for attractions and interactive experiences on the right side and the left is still awaiting the completion of the Global Cafe. The Global Cafe is expected to open this summer to coincide with the new resorts coming and those guests who will be partaking in exclusive perks such as breakfast and late night bites. Additions to the core have mostly been small (drink stands, photo centers, and small gift shops) to help spread crowds out from major areas such as the largest gift shop.

This view never gets old. There were rumors that the park would adopt the World Celebration concept of gardens, this has not been fully planned but it has picked up steam. The main difference is that the fountain would remain in the area. Also awaiting on the area music to change as we still use the Innoventions music loop.

pgqDiWC.png

The fountain will remain in any and all plans that are made, but surrounding areas may change. It will not be like the wilderness theme that was present around 2017 and 2018 before the park made its major changes. The goal for 2024 is infrastructure related to the new resorts and even pre-planning more for guests. There are at least two projects being considered with one already in the works with the foundations poured.

This summer the two resorts will officially open and this will lead into the new resort area being fully operational. One project is already being laid out for the resort area, so once guests are roaming the resort area it will be hard not to notice what we are planning.

One area in World Exposition however is Egypt. This is a major work in progress as there are many experiences and thrills being considered. Egypt is expected to be one of the most popular areas, much like how it was in the earlier days of the project.

Discover is still the park's nighttime show. The barges are being evaluated in fireworks tests for special entertainment and possibly after hours events coming up. Ideas have came up in board meetings and reviews are mixed, but the barges are effective in housing quite a bit of equipment that can be used for more than just Discover.

World Of Discovery is growing and will continue to grow. Celebrations are being planned and will be put into overdrive pretty soon as crews prepare different decorations and entertainment for the occasions. We are excited to share what is new and what is next for World Of Discovery.

That second-to-last shot is super cool with SSE in the dead center of the ring like that... even if it's littered with those tacos 😆

Looking good so far!

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

I mean last night's soundtrack release might help the tacos become less of an eyesore. We do have big events coming! Plus the goal was the ring to be centered unlike other parks...

Happy Monday everyone! May is flying by, and we got some big events coming up for World Of Discovery. This Friday, May 24th is the opening of our newest resort, the Innovations Resort! This opening will be the catalyst for more developments that are being thought up as this will begin the transition into the Discover Parks and Resorts franchise. There are some big plans for the upcoming years that are already being cooked up and I am excited to reveal them later this year for the 20th anniversary of RCT3!

The next BIG event is the ParkCrafters Awards! This event takes place on May 30th, and I am sure many of you are aware that this coincides with the 1-year anniversary of this community. The staff worked hard to go through all projects that met certain requirements and I am super excited to say that World Of Discovery has been nominated for 3 awards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This project was nominated for the following categories:

People's Choice Award

Park Of The Year Award

Best Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Project Award

I will say this is a huge honor as this is the first time I have gotten nominated for any awards within the theme park gaming community. This project I started in 2016 as a freshman in college with it including many concepts that I dreamed up years prior. I was a lurker at the time, hoarding custom content and using in-game trees, no path covers, curveless paths, and other things I would cringe at these days. The project was first posted on ShyGuysWorld and on TheCreatorsLounge and was almost an Epcot clone on a low budget. It then quickly evolved when @wolfpaw and@StickyGum32 got involved after my many many requests. Sorry not sorry 😉, but I also want to thank @Kablary and @Wilhelm1407 for being part of the staff that put this project in these categories as well. I hated nominating myself, but we all had to do it because boss told us to 😜. It is going to be a fun event and I am looking forward to seeing as many members participate in the awards. But most of all, thank you for the opportunity to be nominated for this project (and my two Disney parks), this was the first project I have publicly shared and the first one I moved to this community.

Back to World Of Discovery, for the awards we have a pretty good agenda to celebrate the big occasion. The park will be streaming the awards using the barges in the World Exposition Lagoon. Event guests are encouraged to reserve rooms at the Innovations Resort as a fair number of rooms are being set for the event. Guests will receive complimentary admission, food & beverages, and admission to the awards until the end of the afterparty.

May 30 Schedule:

  • Park hours: 9 AM - 4 PM
    • Event guests can check in starting at 3 PM.
  • Social gathering 6 PM - 7:45 PM
  • Awards begin at 8 PM.
  • Afterparty begins at the conclusion of the awards and lasts until midnight.
    • Discover showing at 11 PM.

Congrats on the nominations, you definitely deserve it! It's crazy to see how long this project has been running and after all these years you are still so dedicated and evolving the park, it truly feels like a real life park!

Good luck during the awards!

Thank you! Also thank you for the years of hyping up the RCT3 Epcot. Very excited to keep this project going with some huge plans.

Welcome to World Of Discovery! Tonight is a special event and the 1 year anniversary of this project being posted. I am currently at the social hour going on before the big awards!

They were letting guests stay at the entrance as most of the festivities are in World Exposition.

Of course, ParkCrafters colored banners to greet guests of the event.

The barges are ready for the 8 PM awards and pre-show tag for World Of Discovery. It is a great gathering of sorts 😉

3 awards won tonight!!!!

X9f1Pb6.jpeg

Thank you everyone for voting in the ParkCrafters Awards! The three categories this project won are very shocking to me because they are pretty large categories! There were a lot of amazing nominees that I am a huge fan of and a lot of veteran creators. The categories as seen in the quick posts above are:

RCT3 Project Of The Year

Park Of The Year

People's Choice Award

In honor of the big occasion, I would like to share that a sister park is in the planning phases for this project. It is going to be a mixture of themes with a larger central theme. It will encompass many concepts and will be another test of RCT3 limits.

Again thank you for the amazing honor of winning these awards for this project, I am excited to continue the project for a really long time.

Press Release:

July 5-7 join us for the Discover Expo! Learn what is coming soon to World Of Discovery and get previews of what is currently under development for Discover Parks and Resorts. Expo guests will need to pick up their badges at one of the ticket booths at the main entrance to World Of Discovery. Included are food and beverage lanyards as well as the event lanyard for after-hours events at the park.

On July 5, come and enjoy the park and newly opened resorts as a kickoff to the event. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided at multiple kiosks for guests attending the expo. This will be an opportunity for guests of the event to socialize and get pumped up for the Discover Expo.

July 6 will be announcement day! This is where we will announce and possibly tease the new additions as well as provide updates on what has been under construction at World Of Discovery and nearby resort areas. Guests will gather in the conference rooms at the Innovations Resort for the event.

July 7 will be the final day of the event and will culminate with the after-hours event. We have a very special moment planned for the evening that will showcase something that is planned for the 20th anniversary of RCT3 and celebrating the results from the ParkCrafters Awards last month.

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to the Discover Expo! There are so many announcements for the park planned and the creative team has cooked up a pretty involved agenda to celebrate this massive project. Today is just a social gathering with some minor announcements shared to guests, I decided to head over to the park to get some shots of the areas mentioned so far today.

lzeSHEk.jpeg

Coming up to the main entrance, the park entrance music has changed again! What now plays is a music loop that debuted in the real world in December 2023. I can confirm that this is the only music loop that has changed. The rest remain and have no talks of being changed. The previous music loop was pretty cinematic and had a lot of music from nature documentaries. The new loop is nice and definitely gives a grand entrance feeling.

The main core of the park was the topic of minor announcements walking into the Discover Expo. It will continue to look like this, but many facilities have openings planned for October 2024. The additions are inspired by those at Epcot and both buildings will remain as the real-world theme park has some additions and losses that are not so favorable in the latest reworking of the park.

One is the Global Cafe, the park's main quick-service restaurant. It will be a place to discover many flavors from many areas of the world. This will be inspired by the Connections Eatery at Epcot, Starbucks is already in a small facility within the same building. It is unlikely it will be connected to the Global Cafe and will be its own entity to help with crowd control. This will finish one half of the two core buildings.

Another is a meet and greet with RCT3 characters for the 20th anniversary of the game. This space will bring all RCT3 mascots under one roof to meet guests who have experienced meeting these characters for 20 years in multiple projects that inspired World Of Discovery. To finish the other half, an announcement will be made at a later date for the remaining space. There are talks of a flex space being installed temporarily to help give guests a space to relax and recharge.

Discover Expo guests received the surprise that they will be invited into the gravity building of the park's most thrilling addition coming soon. The possible name for the attraction is Geolocoaster. This coaster will involve geological sciences in a thrilling way. The coaster is mostly complete with the completion of the track inside the gravity building. Guests were informed that the trains are x-car trains seating 4 to a row and that this attraction will feature inversions and many twists and turns. Team members teased a zero-geode roll is the first element after launching into the gravity building.

This attraction is of course similar to Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Since we do not have a CTR or CT of that attraction (wish list item) this is a good placeholder. The big box is towards the back of the park to not affect the main entrance sightlines as much as the attraction at Epcot....big blue box!

Guests were also teased that one little spark will illuminate World Of Discovery in a new light. Sunday night something is being revealed and this is said to coincide with the 20th anniversary of RCT3. I wonder what it is because the park does seem more alive at night. During the ParkCrafters Awards the intro tag of a "great gathering" was used, possibly another sort of great gathering. 🤔

The Discover Expo ends Sunday with today being the first day. Already there has been quite a bit to unpack and it is said that tomorrow will be even more!
