July 16, 20241 yr This is fantastic! Love the realism of the house that dropped on the wicked witch of the West and her legs remaining exposed. The whole concept is really well done so far. I'll be following this for sure!
July 17, 20241 yr Author Thank you all for all the nice comments! Believe it or not, we have both been working very hard to get this done, especially since PC2 has been announced. I've been off work for a couple weeks, and Wagi has woken from hibernation. Sometimes it's a little hard to tell when he's sleeping or not! 🤣 We should have some major updates posted within the next week or so! In the meantime, here's a shot of the Lollipop Guild ride at night. I am very pleased with how the lighting turned out on this ride. You can see the OZ monorail whizzing by in the distance. July 17, 20241 yr When not sleeping napping just resting my eyes...Citytrader and I have been preparing this bench for release...and then I decided to add Oz sound effects...🤨 But those are almost done! Trust me! 😴 Plus, work on the SECOND BENCH featuring the Haunted Forest, the Wicked Witches Castle, Winkie Town and the (G)Nome King's Underground Lair is almost finished, as is Bench Three - Yellow Brick Country - Home of the Scarercrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion! Bench Four - The Emerald City is about half done, and planning for the Northern Kingdom - Home of Glinda the Good Witch is moving right along.

September 30, 2024Sep 30 Back from a vacation to the States and visits to Disneyland and Knott's as well as seeing family and friends, so now it's time to pick back up where we left off... The progression of the Wizard of Oz story would have us leaving Munchkinland and heading to Yellow Brick Country - the home of the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. But we were building each of the multiple benches out of that order. Rich has been working on Yellow Brick Country while I finished up The Haunted Forest Bench earlier. So to get these out before Planet Coaster 2 takes the spotlight, we'll skip right to the Haunted Forest - home of the Wicked Witch of the West... There's multiple ways to access the Haunted Forest, there's a path from Marvel's World in Kansas that leads through the abandoned Gulch Industries factory... One can also cross over the rainbow and find a path from Munchkinland... Or you can ride the Oz Monorail and get off at the Haunted Forest Station...if you dare... The Main entrance to the Haunted Forest is a little further down the Yellow Brick Road, near the station for the Munchkin Tours Boat Ride... We'll head there next...

I really like the (5th) image with the Yellow Brick Road winding through the scene. I know you made the YBR all curvy out of necessity, but it adds a lot of visual interest.

October 1, 2024Oct 1 One path leads from the Haunted Forest Monorail Station to the main entrance...we'll follow that one... The sounds of croaking frogs, screeching owls and mysterious howls fill the air (insert yer imagination here...). Mists swirl above the swamp... A small bridge crosses the alligator-infested waters... Snarls and low growls are heard as sinister shapes are emanating from the mist... Deeper into the gloom we travel... The path splits...one part leads to the underground dungeon's of the Wicked Witches Castle (and it's convenient elevators to the upper level...). We'll explore that route later... The other makes a stop for refreshment to strengthen your nerves for the trek ahead... At last we reach our goal...the main entrance to the Wicked Witches abode... You've been warned my pretties... October 2, 2024Oct 2 Past the arch and across the bridge, casting an eye at the alligators waiting below and catching glimpses of other mysterious beings in the mist... Past yet another arch on the crumbling old bridge... Now I'm confused...(more so than normal...). We come to the steps leading up to the "World Famous" Haunted Castle...Home of The Wicked Witch of the West... She's not very inviting now is she? It's quite a climb...guess we shouldn't have passed by those elevators from the dungeons, huh? Are you a good witch or a bad witch...be careful how you answer... The stairs rise past a section of the River of Doom... "Beware! Low Flying Monkeys"??? At last the castle's main gate comes into view...
October 2, 2024Oct 2 The Haunted Forest looks very inviting! The low-hanging mist gives it such a cheerful vibe. Perfect place for a picnic! This is looking great, Wagi. Lots of wonderful detail and emotional build-up.
October 3, 2024Oct 3 Past the infamous Winkie Guards (they are always looking for a few good Winkies...or so I've heard...) Just inside is the Black Cat Market, an open air food court featuring some of the favorite snacks and drinks of the Wicked Witch and her many sisters... Advertisements for various potions and spells line the walls...the Wicked Witch of the West gets a cut of each sale as well as rent for the ad space...keeping up a Haunted Castle ain't cheap ya know, have to pay the bills somehow! Everything from Cobweb Stew to Pickled Rat Tails is available to tickle your taste buds...and engage your gag reflex... Here we can look back to the bridge we crossed over to access this gastronomical bonanza... Restrooms for Little Ghouls and Boo's is located nearby, along with convenient broom parking... Hmmm...that Spider Elixir looks interesting... Past the restrooms there's a shortcut to the Castle's premier coaster...Broom Patrol...Sky-Writing School Here you join Flying Monkeys practicing terrorizing innocent Kansas girls and correctly spelling "Surrender Dorothy!" before running out of smoke. On the wall a video of the Wicked Witch herself urging you on is shown... The rooftop Monkey Bar to partake of post-flight libations... It also has a kitchen at the other end serving light fare... You can also exit from the backside of the coaster's ride station, where of course a gift shop and handy snack shop look forward to relieveing you of any spare coins that didn't fall of your pockets on the ride... Just a quick pause to catch our bearings...the main gate in in the tower at lower left, the Black Cat Market would be right behind it, the Broom Patrol - Sky-Writing School coaster lift-hill at bottom left while it's station is at lower center with the Monkey Bar on the roof. As you can tell there's still a lot left to see...
October 3, 2024Oct 3 I will mention that much of the Haunted Castle is made up of blueprints shared on the Workshop, either whole or in part, often kit-bashed to fit in, and pretty much all having to be re-colored piece-by-piece (if THAT wasn1t fun... *ugh*). A sincere thanks to all those who shared their work on the Workshop... All that mixed in with structures I built myself... The original Goddard Group design had most of the Haunted Forest under cover, and the Witches Castle was smaller. The River of Doom encircled it. I just expanded upon that (as usual...) but left the Forest open-air, with the hopes that having a dense forest and adding stuff like fog and mist would give the same creepiness...

October 8, 2024Oct 8 Thanks for the comments everyone! There's another passage from the Broom Patrol coaster that crosses over it. The inner parts of the Haunted Castle includes a lot of swampland along with it's usual alligators...after her Flying Monkeys they are the Wicked Witches favorite pets! Another convenient parking spot to leave your brooms... Our Zombies are guaranteed FRESH...why the meat just falls off the bones it's so tender! (As do various other body parts...) Our next attraction is the Flying Monkey Brigade where you can test out your flying skills and hope that zombie finger doesn't come back up on you... The Flying Monkey figures were Workshop finds by Spiralguy, I just had to find a spot to use them they are really good... Now to balance out that cuteness... Here we can look back through the secondary entrance to the Haunted Castle, over the bridge to the abandoned Gulch Industries factory off Marvel's World in Kansas... I spy someone keeping an eye on us up above... Next door is the entrance to The River of Doom, which encircles the castle and passes through the Haunted Forest... The main queue leads off to the left, but there are elevators next to the rides exit on the right... The ride station is at a lower level... We'll follow the path of The River of Doom later, but for now we'll continue our tour of the upper pasts of the Castle... Owls and assorted Witch Accessories are available in shops along the Castle''s walls... Here we'll also find seating for the Gallows Humor Comedy Show. A highly 'spirited' comedy talk show. "...you'll DIE laughing!" Tonight's special guest on "Gallows Tonight" is the lovely Dr. Frankensteina, who will have you in stitches as she shares how she builds her man, piece by piece! October 11, 2024Oct 11 Continuing along our way, even in the midst of the overgrown courtyard lawns one can still find 'facilities'... As well as shops that fuel the need for said 'facilities'... We come to our next attraction...Crazy Cauldrons... Across the River of Doom we go... We crossed OVER the River of Doom to the ride...we leave UNDER the River of Doom to exit...they never seem to make up their minds here... Next up...Catacomb Crawl under the Castle... One can take either the stairs or the elevator down, down, down... ...to a very short ride that I suspect the Wicked Witch only added to attract unsuspecting tourists in hopes that loose change will fall out of their pockets to be gathered later from between the seat cushions...or as just a reason to attract peeps back to this part of the Castle grounds...who knows for sure? Next door is the path to the Darkside Spookeasy where you favorite libations can be found...(you are a fan of a good Frog-tini or a Bat Spit Smoothie aren't you?)... We'll find out next time...

October 15, 2024Oct 15 Continuing on... The Darkside SpookEasy is reached up a ramp to a door on the side of the castle wall... One climbs a staircase inside of the castle, exiting onto a bridge crossing the River of Doom far below... Reaching the door to the restaurant and lounge...no photographs allowed inside, the spirits don't like flash photography (and they don't care if you're Brazilian and never follow that rule anyways. You've been warned!)... You can also enjoy the view of the waterfall while waiting for your table to be ready from the castle walls... Next door is the Aerial Tram, a shortcut to the Emerald City... Giant Rock Trolls threaten your tram cars... Just past the entrance to the Aerial Trams the path comes to an end...but a few items remain to be seen... A spot to grab a bite...or maybe the bite will grab you if you're not careful... Apprentice witches practicing their feminine charms I suppose... Which includes working in the Stewed Bat Wings booth or as bathroom monitor duties... Them things ain't gonna clean themselves you know - unless your cleaning spell works properly of course... Here's an overview of the Haunted Forest and the Wicked Witches Castle... But before we leave there's still an areas yet to explore...what's UNDER the castle in the Wicked Witches Catacombs,Dungeons and Points West...
