Read below to see what's new across ParkCrafters: Deck the community!Our Holiday theme returns! Both the site and our Discord have been redesigned for the holidays! Our holiday theme has been built from the ground up to work with our UI/UX update that was released at the start of this year and will be live from November 30, 2025, to January 2nd, 2026. Happy Holidays from all of us here at ParkCrafters! Our default theme is always available and can be selected at the bottom left corner of every page by clicking on 'Theme'. Parks, attractions, fireworks, and... dinosaurs?With the launch of Jurassic World Evolution 3, ParkCrafters has expanded our game boards and downloads sections to now include both the Jurassic World Evolution franchise and the Prehistoric Kingdom sandbox game! The Planet Zoo category has been revamped to include all these animal simulation games and can now be found here. This means that moving forward, the Jurassic World Evolution franchise and Prehistoric Kingdom are all now in the running for various events and are eligible for competition entries! Our Discord server has also been updated with these new game channels, clever girl! An Explosive New CompetitionTo celebrate the holidays and the end of the year, ParkCrafters is introducing a fun new competition. Sorry park people, this one is all pyro focused 🎆 In the coming weeks, we'll be hosting a new competition where the goal is to create a new firework effect in the Advanced Fireworks Editor in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. More information on this competition will be released soon but expect lots of fireworks this holiday season! ParkScape Returns Next Month!Our first edition of ParkScape - our screenshot competition - was very popular and saw lots of entries. We're happy to announce that ParkScape will be returning in 2026 for the 2026 Quarter 1 competition! I'm seeing a lot of toys and a toy store, so my guess would be something kid-friendly? Maybe like a junior scenery pack to make junior areas for parks?

Some key features: Animated scenery is now scalable New spring mechanic to attach to scenery to move them More new blueprints from Planet Coaster 1 New coasters and coaster pieces Better management options and prestige balancing Small improved UI tweaks like more information on tooltips and utility pieces Weather system has been updated and now has thunderstorms with lightning that can strike your rides, snow that can freeze pools without pool heaters, and more weather customization and dangers for guests like sunburns Festive scenery is being added for free, with over 200 pieces! This is so nostalgic for me, I remember the days when I first got RCT3 and I'd make parks like this, haha - thanks for sharing!

Planet Zoo was way more popular and a bigger financial success than Planet Coaster was to Frontier so I'm not surprised that a sequel is in the works. I haven't touched much of Planet Zoo myself but interested to see what the main focus of the sequel will be!

I'm sorry your first PlanCo2 project?? This is... I don't even have the words for it - it doesn't even look like PlanCo2! I absolutely adore your environmental design of the outside areas, and that dragon sequence? This is seriously impressive! Thanks so much for sharing, I really enjoyed this and it makes me want to open PlanCo2 back up and take another crack at it!

Not sure about the park building/coaster building side of the community since I was mainly on the pyro side but the pyro people definitely had their fads.. a few that come to mind: Waterscreens.. waterscreens everywhere - at one point everyone was including waterscreens once World of Color debuted into their shows with some video overlayed on top of it, got old real quick, haha CASTLE SHOWS - I know this one has never really died, but everyone and the mother would create a Disney-themed firework show using the castle as a set and post it everywhere. So. many. castle. shows. Baba Yetu - this song was everywhere at one point in the pyro community. So many people created a fountain show to this song! 360 shows - This isn't exactly a fad, but there was a point where everyone was creating a 360 show (a show that can be viewed from any angle with a moving/rotating camera) with a minimal set design. You can thank this show for starting this. Realistic effects - The AFE in RCT3 is a hell of a tool that can create literally anything you can think up, but for such a long time, everyone was so fixated on realistic effects. If your show didn't have realistic effects, it was usually criticized and not viewed highly. This fad has changed since those days, and we now see more fantasy and experimental effects - yay! Calling yourself a production or company - This is one I'm guilty o,f and one that doesn't necessarily only affect the pyro community. At one point, everyone was 'branding' themselves and all their work as a studio or company production. "ErnieG014 Productions" was mine that I'm 100% guilty of 😅 I'm sure there are tons more that I can't think up of but these are some that I've witnessed on the pyro-side of the community!

Yeah, I've seen this happen before as well because I use RCT3 Vanilla to make pyro too. The game originally released in a 4:3 aspect ratio, but if you set a 16:9 aspect ratio in Options.txt like Wabigbear mentioned, it should work. I don't recommend setting it to a high resolution if you have a 4K monitor because the UI doesn't scale with the custom resolution, and it can get very small to read (especially when working with numbers in the AFE). I usually manually reduce my monitor screen resolution in Display Settings on Windows (just right click on your desktop background and click on Display Settings) and set a custom resolution in Options.txt, which makes it much easier to see.

This is seriously impressive - this might be one of the most realistic and gorgeous parks I've ever seen in PlanCo2! Some of these shots don't even look like they came from the game!
