The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

This park has been on my hard drivve for quite some time, but still never released. What a shock! I've been told glaciers move faster! I thought I would repost this from a while ago, and god willing, I might actually be able to work on finishing this in the next couple of months!

In all my spare time ( ;D ), I've been working on recreating one of my other favorite RCT3 parks, the seven wonders of the ancient world! Here's a few preview shots;

The Ishtar Gate of Babylon with the Pharos of Alexandria in the background;

The Temple of Artemis;

The Mausuleum of Hallicarnassus;

The Temple of Zeus on Mt. Olympus;

The Hanging Gardens of Neneveh;

AwPe9du.jpg

Professor Stephanie Dalley has postulated that the Hanging Gardens were never in Babylon at all, but in another city, Nineveh. She has unearthed loads of evidence to support her claim and has been featured on numerous television programs. Dalley found texts by the king of Assyria named Sennacherib about a palace he built and a garden alongside that he called a wonder for all people. He inscribed his name on numerous aquaducts and canals that were able to cary huge volumes of water to his city. There is even a bas-relief showing the king in his "hanging garden", so my park supports her claims!

Here's a daytime shot of the Hanging Gardens;

The Temple of Zeus;

The Temple of Artemis;

The Collosus of Rhodes;

OK, the feet of the Collosus of Rhodes!

The Great Pyramids;

And the Mausuleum;

Hope you all like this, and I'll post some more pictures and maybe even the park itself sometime in the coming millennium!

I'm a sucker for world history so I think this is a pretty neat project, if you ever come around to finishing you have to do the new world wonders next!

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

Awesome!!  Though I do believe it was the Hanging Gardens of Babylon wasn’t it?

edit-just noticed your write up Professor Stephanie Dalley has postulated that the Hanging Gardens were never in Babylon at all, but in another city, Nineveh. Regentbird, if you have access to the show "Cities of the Dead" from PBS, they did an entire episode about Dr. Dalley's claim. Really a very interesting documentary!

Here's a quick overview of the entire park;

A few people have asked, hey! The wonders are nice. but what about the rides?!?

Here's Hades;

And how about Pegasus;

Love the park layout you have going there with the lagoon in the center - reminds me of World Showcase but instead of countries you have wonders, haha. Very cool to see this project progress!

Thanks guys! JB, there aren't many good ways to use that witch ride, so I thought I would give it a twirl! 🤣

Here's a look at the front of the Egypt dock;

Oh, there's that pesky eye!!!

I know these are not going to be exact replicas of the real thing, but to see the creativity to make it look as close to the real thing is really cool to look at!

These all look awesome. Keep it up!

There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow; shining at the end of every day.

Thanks Gin!

Unfortunately, I've run into a snag and am unable to upload the park to the workshop until I can figure it out. So here's a few more pictures of the place;

Welcome to Babylon;

20230816165527_1.jpg.a58e9e4c9e6854cfece3fdf3e22145db.jpg

The Kraken is off to the left. I know, Norse mythology, but needed some excuse to use the Octopus ride!

Tiamat's Terror is built over the lagoon. Tiamat was the goddess of the primordial sea;

20230816164145_1.jpg.f7bf44781bd5569473d180a7bdbc11fa.jpg

Marduk's Mania is a flying carpet ride! (I know, a thousand years too early, but you try building a Babylon park without a flying carpet!!!) Marduk was the king of the Babylonian pantheon, similar to Zeus in Greece or Jupiter in Rome;

20230816164230_1.jpg.47b3059c06964f4570495759d8488b84.jpg

Anzu was a mythological bird that could breathe fire and water (I assume not both at the same time!). Hence, Anzu's Revenge;

20230816164013_1.jpg.a4e7804fb720d2b0470008950fb951c1.jpg

The Ishtar Gate was listed in original texts by the ancient Greeks as one of the seven wonders until the Pharos of Alexandria was built, then the gate was tossed aside in favor of a lighthouse! But here it stands in all it's glory!

20230816163725_1.jpg.a94b9e67adcbc9daab71d7a035f44b9e.jpg

It was said it was the tallest building in the world except for the pyramids. It was built before the Tower of Babel.

Next up, Ephesus!

Seems to me they could have kept the Ishtar Gate, and just made it the Eight Wonders. Why were they fixated on having only seven?

I can see how making a present-day park based on ancient civilizations would be difficult. The older the civilization is, the less we know about it, and the ruins are few and far between. Sometimes just a partial sentence pressed into a mud tablet or carved onto a rock. One would have to fill in the blanks with speculation... and flat rides.😛

"May this tusk root out the lice of the hair and the beard."

Would love to see the ride based on the oldest complete sentence.

Always wondered that myself. Seven shows up a lot in the ancient world! Probably goes back to the Bible and the seven days of creation.

I remember seeing that. Which ride? 🤣

I found the problem! A Roman floor tile piece I created with that program that I made the DA hanger walls with. It created some wonky pieces, but they work!
I'll post the link as soon as it's approved, or you can search up 7 wonders.

Ephesus (modern day Turkey) was the home to two of the famous wonders, the Temple of Artemis and the Mausoleum of Hallicarnasus;

The big attraction here the Huntress, an immensely fun coaster!

While the Militae Exercitus is a reworked Whip ride from the workshop;

I like what I am seeing. This park definitely has an Epcot World Showcase influence with a little bit of a Busch Gardens park with the thrill rides. This park is pretty beautiful and does a great job in having a landmark for each area. I am happy you have a boat system because that would be quite a bit of walking and Planet Coaster guests are a bit picky at times. Excellent job!

Thank you for the kind words Cody!

Have to admit, I fudged a bit on the Egypt area, and utilized quite a few blueprints from the workshop. Some I completely overhauled, some I used pretty much as is.

Welcome to Egypt, home of the great pyramids and the Pharos of Alexandria!

20230816164734_1.jpg.242d7f741cee42abaf80db90be69be6e.jpg

The Pharos was a workshop blueprint, but I reworked it quite a bit and put a freefall ride inside;

20230816164917_1.jpg.540a4d26c2739efec68bd772214ef259.jpg

A small outdoor cafe;

20230816164803_1.jpg.a6ef5d0b2e8454b27a68f3c84ed98312.jpg

The Flight of Horus;

20230816164832_1.jpg.3a7ebd62812de67e66216b0cb5e59b58.jpg

Another workshop ride with a greatly reduced Pyramid behind it. I placed two small pyramids using forced perspective. From the right angles, they look great!

Next stop, Rhodes!

I really struggled with the Rhodes part of teh park, and I built and demolished it at least a dozen times! It just kept looking too much like Greece or Epheus.

Finally thought about the fact that the Colossus only stood for about 60 years before toppling in an earthquake, and wham! I had it! Rhodes would be devastated by an earthquake!

Upon entering Rhodes from Egypt, you come upon the family friendly ride "Earthquake" (original, I know)!

20230816165018_1.jpg.3f7e011748f42d4410d05ba5f6383814.jpg

The big attraction in this small area of the park is of course the coaster "Colossus";

20230816165213_1.jpg.b0d584ae86578c6317aaeed23b5688ef.jpg

The big man himself is leaning pretty badly and may just fall over as you walk under it!

Greece is up next!
