Frontier closing their forums...moving entirely to Discord

Wagi - nice walking on eggshells comment on the forums without exactly mentioning this page and getting banned. "Those of us who've been around for a while have seen this before. Before Planet Coaster there was another game which started the whole 'roller coaster sim game' craze, the company behind it had similar attitudes about the community. That company is now reduced to selling cheap knock-offs of old games from it's catalog and has become a joke for clinging to it's former past when it's just a mere shadow if it. Sadly history often repeats itself. We're fortunate that there still exist a few forum-based websites where players of Planet Coaster are welcome to share their work."

I came across an old thread at Frontier that Wagi posted about the closing of SGW (thanks, Wagi). He listed ParkCrafters as the new site to replace SGW and it wasn't censored or deleted. That was 2 ye

I actually like the look of the game. Its one of the things that attracted me in the first place. Are some of the mascots a bit out there? Yes, but I think Frontier made it clear right from the beginning that branding items in the game was here to stay. I learned to live with it.

Oh, I like the general look of the game. I'm actually fine with the cartoony look of the guests. Otherwise, I couldn't create characters like Scooter and Wanda. Just the few things I mentioned are what I wish were defferent.

@wolfpaw I wanted to follow up your post with something like "As a ParkCrafter, which is what I like to refer to my self, I really appreciate your forums." Would that be subtle enough?😉 No, I'll just leave it alone and hope a few members can read between the lines and do search out and find these forums.

I'm still lamenting the crash-and-burn of Theme Park Builder 3D. It sounded like it would've had everything anybody could want in a theme park sim. And anything that was missing could be built, and added, by the community. Oh well.

LOL! Yeah, one has to be a little careful when mentioning other websites for some reason now. Not all the mods there seem to be on the same page on that one.

I do get my digs in about Atari from time to time, but that subject now might bring on a reaction. Certainly 'those who know...know'...

Well, it's official, the forums have officially closed down over at Frontier. I hope most over there have done some research and found ParkCrafters to continue sharing their work - thanks to everyone who posted (and tried to post) about ParkCrafters over there!

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

I've shared the link to ParkCrafters on the subreddits and the Steam forums, hoping that those who didn't see it on the Frontier forums can find us. I tried sharing about ParkCrafters on their Discord servers, but it was immediately deleted and I was told I'm not allowed to advertise. I tried explaining that there are a lot of people who would prefer a forum instead of a server, so I figured I'd at least try and share, and the response was "just use Discord". I told them that while I understand why Frontier did this change, the tools that Discord has to try and mimic a forum aren't the best, and most don't use or realize they are even there and I'm just trying to provide an alternative. The response to that was "just use Discord" so I gave up after that; my point was completely going over their heads.

I was able to get in one quick mention of ParkCrafters just before they closed the door, but had to leave off the '.com' so as to draw less attention.

Yes I saw that. My post probably got deleted so quickly as it was an actual link. With the forum closed, lets hope they don't notice it and it stays there.

Still there, 4 hours and counting...

Big up to @shyguy and @Wabigbear for sending me this way from the Frontier forums.

Sad what happened over there when it was so active back in the PC1 days.

Hey guys, its been awhile. I have took a break from PC2, cities skylines 2 because of the unfinished nature of things. Every 4 months I open them up and don't see much updates or changes thinking, "OH! Maybe we have spooky scenery, or custom things. And nope not yet..." Which is ashamed because we have real darkness, but no haunted scenery? That makes no sense. It is sad to see how frontier handled the forum situation, forums are so much easier to follow projects and story parks. I love making parks with a tineline, and the participants that react. It keeps things fun and exciting. Discord is too much like scrolling on facebook, it is too much and annoying. It's good for a group chat, but I want to be able to see things in a organized manner or look back at older things. It is nice to see familiar faces still here and even new people. Maybe the forum closing will be positive for this forum! I hope to open PC2 and make something cool to show others when the time is right! I will say being in my 30s with a house, wife, and band make it harder to work on things like this compared to being 12 years old on Atari forums with unlimited time haha. But I look forward to creating and sharing at some point.

No worries if life gets busy! Life always comes first, we'll be here and excited to see what you make and share when you can!

So nice to see some new and some familiar names here, so: Welcome and welcome back to ParkCrafters. 🥳

The frustrating state of PC2 and the whole genre actually inspires me to push myself into creation, and to contribute more to the forum again. As much as life allows it. Though, with the roller coaster that 2025 has been here in real life, who knows what's behind the next curve 🤪

Hi everyone!

Hopefully found my new home here after Frontier closed down the forums (big mistake) and also banned me on Steam without any explanation or way to overturn.

Looking forward to good and mature conversation here.
