Posted July 16Jul 16 Hi everyone!Since I re-installed RCT3 including all my old files on my pc I thought I might as well share some of my old projects that I was able to find in the files. I used to be active on the old SGW forums and I posted some of these projects on there too.The projects will probably not look very finished. That's because they were never fully finished. I stopped playing RCT3 years ago. I tried to get back into playing it the last couple of days but the game keeps crashing every time I try to save my Disney park. So I just figured the game is too old and unstable for me to enjoy it. If it keeps crashing I keep losing my progress and that really sucks. So I thought I'd just share my creations as they were when I last saved them.Disneyland HotelThe first one I want to share is probably one of my better creations. It all started with my love for the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel. I love the architecture and the color combinations of that building and so I tried to build my own version of a Disneyland Hotel with that same style. This was the end result:My idea was to also build the full infrastructure and landscaping around the hotel. On the left side of the hotel would be a parking lot for hotel guests, on the right side of the hotel would be the main entrance towards the park from the main parking lot. I also wanted to build a garden area in front of the hotel much like the fantasia gardens in Disneyland Paris in front of the Disneyland Hotel.Main StreetSo after I had build the Hotel I wanted to continue with my own Main Street and really turn this into a Disney park. So this is the Main street I created afterwards:Of course, after building a main street I couldn't wait to add a central plaza and a castle at the end of the main street. So that's when I created this:I'd like to work a little bit more on this park but as I explained earlier, whenever I try to save the game it sometimes crashes. It seems completely random when I can save the file and when I cannot. But I don't feel like building in this file because I'm not certain that I will be able to save my progress. When the game crashes it does create a file that I tried to save but that file is corrupt. It has the default park image for a park in the game and it has no data connected to it.I'll be sharing more of this park and other projects I still have access to in this thread. My idea is that all my work from years ago won't be lost by sharing it here on ParkCrafters. At least people can still find it online through these screenshots. Edited July 17Jul 17 by Quinn
July 17Jul 17 You were wise to leave shadows turned off 😄These are some of the best-looking in-game photos I've ever seen - I cannot wrap my head around how buttery smooth and realistic the textures are! Are you doing any post-processing on the pictures, or is your computer actually powered by NASA?Image quality aside, I can see why the game is unstable - you're pushing it to wayyyyyyy outside its capabilities. There are more polys in your CSO foliage alone than RCT3 was designed to handle. The finished work is stunning, and I truly wish you were able to push forward with the projects! Something, sometime, eventually...
July 17Jul 17 Your game was screaming! Glad to see these screenshots at ParkCrafters. I might have to attempt a similar hotel build style because yours turned out amazing.
July 17Jul 17 Author @Kablary Yeah my in-game shadows are turned off mostly because I do have Ambient Occlusion enabled and the in-game shadows don't show up on path covers and planter covers so you wouldn't even be able to see them in most places. Thanks for the comment! The pic's aren't post processed at all. They are direct screenshots from the game. I believe I've added something in the option files of the game that allows it to run at full HD. I also like taking pictures in the morning hours (7 AM to 7:30 AM). The lighting just looks great at that time. The ambient occlusion shadows help as well. My PC is far from a NASA machine. I have an old intel i5 processor, an old GTX 1050 ti and 16 GB of DDR4 ram.And yeah, I guess this park file is really pushing the game to its limits. I have already used the large address aware trick, which is how I got to this big of a park file to start with. I'm thinking maybe I can continue building in other park files and then try to save the buildings as blueprints and place them in the park but I'm afraid the game won't accept that either.EDIT: I also just thought of something else that might make my pics look better. In the Nvidia inspector (which I use to enable Ambient Occlusion) I have set the Anti Aliasing setting to 4x. This makes the lines in the game look much sharper.@Cody Yep, I guess I really found the limit of RCT3 with this file. The hotel itself wasn't even that hard to build to be honest. I saved a 1 square of the facade of the building as a blueprint and I used that to create an outline for the hotel. I also made one diagonal one so the basic shape of the building was just the same wall repeated over and over again. And afterwards I started adding more details. In hindsight I should have probably made the annex parts (the right and left buildings that are connected by the bridges) a little smaller, or at least a floor or two lower to make it more realistic. I think this would be one of the largest hotels Disney had ever build. I'd love to see your attempt if you try to build a similar hotel! Edited July 17Jul 17 by Quinn
July 17Jul 17 Author There is still some more to show you from within the same park file. I had also started working on Fantasyland and the very beginnings of Frontierland.FantasylandThere is even a dragon hiding in the grotto next to the castle:This would be the Fantasyland train station but of course I never got to finish it.An overview of Fantasyland:Frontierland entranceOne last peak at the castle from the wooden fort:Park file(Of course I am all the way zoomed out in this pic so many pieces have disappeared because of the distance but this gives you an overview of what's in the park file.)I've uploaded the park file here on Parkcrafters so if anyone wants to try and load the file on their PC, you can try it now! I have a massive amount of CS sets installed, and there are also some CFR's and CTR's used in this park. So if you can't get the park to work you can always contact me and maybe I can share my RCT3 folders with you so you can have the exact same content installed as me.
July 18Jul 18 Oh my gosh. Fantasyland is incredible (along with the whole park). Very inspiring for Disney kingdom crafters.
