The first hotel complex in the Worlds of Wonder Resort to begin construction is Lafitte Landing. This is actually the very first PC1 project I started when the game was first released. It was planned for Mr. Wonder's now abandoned project to be built in Bakersfield, CA. (The city counsel voted to throw him out of town, or something to that extent. I can't quite remember all of the sordid details)

Anyway, my PC building skills weren't quite up to speed, so much refurbishing will be required to get this up to the standards of a proper Mr. Wonder project. More details on the Worlds of Wonder Resort can be found in this thread...https://parkcrafters.com/topic/518-worlds-of-wonder

I can't decide if I like the newer or older windows and doors better. It's not really important, but I'm wondering why you decided it needed to be changed. :-)

It's not the windows per se, but what you can see through them. 😉

Today we attended an open house at Lafitte Landing for potential guests to tour one of the Veranda Houses.

kG1WlSb.jpg

We're on the ground floor of Veranda House 1. There are 6 Veranda Houses in all, each 3 floors high... 30 rooms in each Veranda, making a total of 180 rooms in the resort so far. (And EVERY room is built and in place. No, I'm not anal.)

QQQaGhh.jpg

Mr. Perkins strolls past the laundry room.

D4zxKsU.jpg

There is one laundry room on each floor. (Washing machine, dryer, and vending machine are all original TMTK items by me.)

9BqnzbH.jpg

Each floor also has access to an ice machine and snack vending machines. (More original TMTK objects.)

D21kNPu.jpg

All 180 rooms are jumbo family rooms, sleeping up to 6 guests each.

LMPjiCE.jpg

Each includes the main room, featuring 2 queen beds, bathroom, closet, widescreen TV, coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge.

ZexOfJ4.jpg

The second room features 2 single beds and their own widescreen TV.

The 6 Veranda Houses.

Next, work begins on the main Lobby building, including the Deluxe rooms...

Are you saying that you furnished all 180 rooms? And you're not anal? classic_tongue

Well, it's not like I manually furnished each room at a time. I created one room, duplicated it in a string of five, and then saved that as a blueprint. Then inserted each block of rooms into each building. The hallways, laundry rooms, vending rooms, and elevator were all duplicated in the same manner. It still was tedious lining everything correctly, and still took many hours (days) to complete. But this, to me, makes the park seem more real... like it actually exists. Which for me, is more satisfying.

Totally understandable! It's those small attention to details that really make a project stand out

... still mad I say! 🤣

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

Work continues on Lafitte Landing, focusing now on Lafitte Castle.

0DzPW9a.jpg

So maybe the Veranda House rooms aren't exciting enough for you. Maybe you'd rather stay in one of the deluxe castle rooms inside Lafitte Castle itself.

Almost all of the original Lafitte Castle interiors have been gutted. Being the very first Planet Coaster project I worked on, and the fact that the game was still in early access, making interiors was insanely difficult using the path system which didn't have the ability to use grids and make plazas. The interior became a maze of hallways and staircases to reach the upper floors, leaving very little room for anything else. The only thing I kept was the lobby, which came out halfway decent.

VTEFRD6.jpg

Here is an old photo of the original lobby the way it looked years ago.

aDNNohc.jpg

New furniture, stone floors, and more rustic looking wood wall textures have been added.

tOJa4U9.jpg

The reception desk hasn't changed much except for some enhanced lighting. More changes and additions to the lobby are underway, as well as installing 14 deluxe rooms to the castle. The building was never really designed to be a realistic hotel, so the layout is still very odd. But who says all hotels have to fit the norm. Lot's more work to do...

Oh my! That first shot of the exterior of Lafitte Castle is amazing! I shudder to think how much one of those deluxe castle rooms goes for per night.

I love seeing old projects from other games get reborn in a new form. I tried doing this with my Indiana Jones park, but did it with the in game Renee Feu instead....yes that's the backstory of that park of mine. Generally the park layout and themes are similar.

It's not gonna be cheap, that's for sure.

Actually, this was originally built in Planet Coaster and is being refurbished in...Planet Coaster. 😉

Maybe its just that we and this project are so old it feels that way to me.

Yes, as time marches on, all the years seem to blur together. I can't believe I started this project roughly 9 years ago! 😬

Work progresses rapidly at Lafitte's Castle. The first floor is nearly complete, with the addition of 7 deluxe guests rooms.

An old photo of what the old interior looked like.

The floors needed to be carpeted to help soundproof the corridors for the sake of the guests staying there. This led to the decision to modernize the look of the interior of the castle, at least where the guest rooms are located.

There are 3 rooms in the east wing of the castle and 4 in the west wing. Each contains a utility room featuring vending machines, ice machine, and washer and dryer.

Wonderful interiors! The rock wall in the master bedroom elevates it to the next level. And I'm sure the kids will get good night's sleep with that pirate glaring down at them. classic_tongue

A brand new addition to the Lafitte Landing Castle is The Crow's Nest, a pirate-themed lounge in the main lobby.

yYplVlA.jpg

There was loads of wasted space in the main lobby, so this seemed a perfect place for The Crow's Nest bar & lounge.

1jwwQIg.jpg

There are plenty of spots within the lobby to sit and relax with a drink from The Crow's Nest.

GyalgOn.jpg

A great photo spot awaits visitors featuring this full size pirate lass, and an animatronic parrot.

Friendly bartenders await guests, ready to quench their thirst with plenty of alcoholic libations. Now how do we keep Wanda away from this place?

SXJSg68.jpg

The lobby's atrium offers a view to (or from) the second floor. Is that Capt. Lafitte peering down from the balcony?

Is he going to bench press that 200 lb weight, or his broom? I think I know the answer.
