Posted March 23Mar 23 The Wonder World Model MemoriamI've had some requests to post photos of my Wonder World model, which I built many, many years ago. Over the years, I have spent hundreds of hours creating and re-creating it in both RCT3 and Planet Coaster 1. (PC1 version never was completed nor was it released.) Sadly, the model no longer exists, as it was badly damaged while in storage. A family of rats decided to take up residency in the model, along with, what I believe, was an opossum. The result was not a pretty sight, and with heavy heart, I was forced to dispose of what was left. So, to allow the model to live on, I will post all the photos I have, here on this site. March 23Mar 23 Absolutely incredible! I'm just as amazed today by the details and craftsmanship as I was the first time I saw them [REDACTED] years ago. Endless thanks for sharing these again sir! I've always been such a huge fan of this model, and I'm so glad to have it back on the web.- StickyGum32 I write sounds: www.composerclay.com
March 23Mar 23 Thanks for posting these models, shyguy! I can tell that making them was definitely a 'labor of love'. Clearly, the rats and 'possums were barbarians who don't appreciate nice things.I've seen some of the Expo 3000 model photos at Shyguy's World. But I don't think I've seen photos of Circus Center, Alpine Village, or Catfish Cove. I never even heard of the other Lands!I wonder if Mr. Wonder has a private apartment above the Cascade Canyon Engine Co.?Thanks for letting us see these models, shyguy. It may be physically gone (stupid rats and 'possums!), but we still have these photos.
March 23Mar 23 It is awesome seeing this model again. Definitely a project that spawned a lot of similar areas in theme park games.
March 23Mar 23 Author Thanks guys. I was pretty heart broken to have to dispose of the model, which coincidentally, was only just this month. Being able to share it this way, and to read your nice comments, helps to lessen the loss I felt.7 minutes ago, JB said:I wonder if Mr. Wonder has a private apartment above the Cascade Canyon Engine Co.?This made me laugh. 😄 Edited March 23Mar 23 by shyguy
March 24Mar 24 WOW! Talk about great memories! Many of these photos I recall, some are of course new to me, but they all remind me of just how enormous this project was - models and RCT3.I always had a love of miniatures like this, just never seemed to have the space to create them. I think that's what attracted me to RCT - sort of a 'virtual miniature world'...
March 24Mar 24 I don't think I've ever seen these before! This is so cool, I can't imagine how much time and work you put into this - it's beautiful! The Expo 3000 set is such an RCT3 CS staple at this point, us pyro people consider it a right of passage that the pack MUST be used in at least one of your shows 🤣Thanks for sharing, it's gorgeous!! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
March 24Mar 24 Author Thanks again, for the nice comments.3 hours ago, Wabigbear said:I always had a love of miniatures like this, just never seemed to have the space to create them. I think that's what attracted me to RCT - sort of a 'virtual miniature world'...Same with me. Games like RCT3 and Planet Coaster allow me to continue building without needing the room, supplies, etc. And with my eye sight not what it once was, building these tiny detailed miniatures would be too difficult for me today.
March 25Mar 25 I fully share this opinion. I've been making miniatures for years, and I've got the same feeling with RCT3. You can find my miniatures here: http://miniatures.cormier.free.fr/ I don't like people who never laugh, they are not serious people. (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
