Posted September 4, 20231 yr I may not have seen the movie, Donnie Darko just yet, but this track Ensurance Trap is pretty legendary to me. Pyro and LED: Ben, N7, ATMad, AceHusky, Palakapan, Wolfpaw (ErnieG014), Jaron Lasers and set: Kriscendo! Epic photo shoot! Edited September 4, 20231 yr by Kriscendo
September 4, 20231 yr (Can you really call something a "tribute" if you haven't seen the film you're attributing?) Donnie Darko is a very dark and somewhat disturbing movie - it's been a long time since I've seen it, but this particular track does a great job capturing the vibe and energy of the film. Some things I really enjoyed from your show: The way the show opens with the teeny tiny fireflies showering the set from above is really fun. The fountains that shoot off from the top of the towes at 0:42 look like lasers, which is really neat! Using an effect outside of its intended purpose gives it new life. It's also great to see you playing around with lasers more. Sync timing seems to be a bit of a struggle. Those loud clashes in the track are missed by like a half-second with some of your larger shells and LEDs, but this might just have been a post-production issue. It's kinda funny how your last couple of shows were LOUD LOUD LOUD all the time, and you've done a complete 180 with this one that is almost entirely dark, low ambiance. I'm a fan! Also fun to see you churn this out in a relatively short time - we only just saw your set photos on Discord last week! Something, sometime, eventually...
September 4, 20231 yr Author As usual, thanks for the feedback Kablary! There comes a time in which I like experimental/creepy soundtracks. After all a lot of metalheads like me like horror or dark ambient you know?
September 4, 20231 yr The set looks cool and could have a lot of uses in other shows or even a whole concert series. This show is definitely different, but that is a good thing. The final effects are possibly my favorite as the pyro shows the scale of the set.
September 5, 20231 yr I have never seen this movie, but from what I gather, it's a horror film? I've never enjoyed horror films, so I'll take your word. haha I really liked some of those sections of choreography 2:10 and onward - well done! There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow; shining at the end of every day.
September 5, 20231 yr VERY weird yet cool show - this is the most avant-garde of your avant-garde shows to date, hahaha. Super ambient show and love the full "black and white" theme you had going for the first half of the show. It's been forever since I've seen that movie so I don't remember too much but this could be a really interesting experimental piece if you disregard the tribute to the movie and just view it as a standalone project. You definitely have a knack for experimental ambient shows! Also love what you did with the fountains on the towers in the beginning, I thought they were lasers at first because they just looked so shiny and matched perfectly the effects you were using. Timing seems to be a bit off like Kablary mentioned but that's an easy fix for your next show. Super cool show, thanks for sharing! You actually might be able to make a super cool horror show in the future - Halloween is coming up too *HINT HINT* 😏 there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
September 6, 20231 yr Wow, that was very interesting!! I found some parts really clever in how you used some of those effects to complement the suspense and tension of the ambiance. Reminds me a bit of @Kablary back in the day haha I think in your future projects you can further enhance the experience you are conveying by filling out your set with more complimentary details like using more mood lighting and dot LEDs. You have already accomplished the hard part- creating a unique and intriguing experience! Looking forward to your next project and your progression! Previous alias "Sino" Vimeo Soundcloud Spotify
September 7, 20231 yr I honestly don’t think I have ever seen anything quite like that before, haha. Your use of LED effects were really fun and innovative considering what their original use was for. The show left me wanting more, in a good way. Only thing I thought was off was the syncing. I don’t know if it was from the editor or within the show itself, but it felt like some of those effects didn’t go off at the right time. Overall, though, great job!
