Hello everyone! Today is already a huge day for Disneyland Resort Dubai during the D23 Expo. We kicked things off a little bit ago at Disneyland Park with announcements that we are sure guests will love. Our announcements also include Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney's Hollywood Studios has become a star, with quite a few nominations for awards and even featured on the ParkCrafters downloads icon for RCT3. Funny thing is though, we have never officially opened the park at any point in its development. For Tower Of Terror lovers, this may make you gasp because we have the WDW version sitting in Dubai waiting for more visitors. Well, what better year to begin a phased opening than the 20th anniversary of RCT3, which will not be too far from our opening date. The Walt Disney Company recently turned 100 on October 16, 2023, so October 16 is a pretty special day for Disney fans. Well, I am happy to say this year we will begin phased openings of Disney's Hollywood Studios on October 16.

Guests will be able to enjoy some of our popular attractions that have been brought here to Dubai. The Hollywood Tower Hotel here will let guests in through the attached gardener's shed, it is kind of in a rough state, but it is one of the ways to get into the main hotel. Rock 'N Roller Coaster will take guests on a thrilling journey on a super-stretch limo to make it to an Aerosmith concert on-time. Other attractions will be revealed once we get closer to the opening date, but those are two I think guests have been itching to enjoy here in Dubai for a long time.

Also, for the anniversary of RCT3, enjoy nightly projections on The Hollywood Tower Hotel. This will be similar to those done at Walt Disney World during the 50th anniversary. I am excited for guests to make their own stories and enjoy experiences Walt Disney Imagineering have been planning for Disneyland Resort Dubai. Disney's Hollywood Studios has been in development for quite a long time, and this is the year we finally let guests see what has been in the works. Thank you for your continued support and I hope you have a picture-perfect day!

Disney's Hollywood Studios has now began its phased opening!

Unfortunately, I am in the process of transferring laptops and trying to get RCT3 fully functional. Expect an update sometime soon! See you at the movies!

Welcome to Disney's Hollywood Studios!

jVvG6BQ.jpeg

Phased openings began this last Wednesday and it has been such a busy week in preparations for new projects and possibilities. Disney's Hollywood Studios is quickly developing into a major presentation. This morning, I had the chance to arrive just a little bit after rope drop and the Extra Magic Hours and guests are flocking to this park.

iTglD2t.jpeg

This is one of my favorite entrances to any project as much was piece-by-piece builds. I used MattCollins Hollywood Studios set for much of it and a mixture of Shyguy's sets. The result is something award winning. It is even part of our downloads page 😉.

5myeOZ3.jpeg

The main entrance was heavily inspired by Hollywood Boulevard at the real Hollywood Studios. Due to some limitations, some buildings from Sunset Boulevard are on one side of the street to help make the area a bit longer than a small entrance area. A good buffer for guests to work their way to upcoming attractions.

QMmQQzW.jpeg

We do have multiple magic band scanners ready for guests to plan their day. Recent news in the real world has a new type of fastpass option, I will have to determine if I want to use this for the story of guest experiences in the near future.

hTcg0U4.jpeg

The hat lives on! Along with a Starbucks location at the end of the street. This park is almost a grid-like layout, but that is due to the buildings being straight as opposed to diagonal. I am looking into methods of breaking apart the concrete jungle that is this park, one example is in the image above with a small, curved path and a Pergola.

xRs5z8v.jpeg

My latest piece-by-piece build is the Carthay Circle Theater. I did have the Parkcrafters logo on the billboards, something happened and it went to the Frontier logo. Oddly my entrance signs kept their images (Slinky Dog ad and Tower of Terror poster) seen in previous images. Carthay Circle Theater is a mix of multiple sets and this is my more detailed version than what I did many years ago in my old studios parks.

Further down is Rock 'N Roller Coaster. This attraction is receiving its queue building and launch building. I am using the CT which is housed in the giant box, which I don't see at all I just see the sky 😉.

KQTTsKS.jpeg

Future additions include Toy Story Land and a new take on the Animation Courtyard. I am looking into some attraction between all Disney studio-based parks/areas. Also paying attention to real world announcements to determine what may fit in this area.

One wish list item I have is a custom Chinese Theater as the area behind the hat is still empty and it would be a great story element and can house attractions. Star Wars was started years ago and that got shelved due to the creator not being active on SGW. I am always looking for assistance and all credit will be given to the creator in the form of "contracts." If anyone would like to help, feel free to comment or message me here at ParkCrafters or on Discord. Would love to get more members involved!

Currently been struggling with transferring RCT3 files to a new system. The current issue is saved crashing, all custom content minus pyro effects have been imported. I am using the old system for RCT3 as a workaround until I get a fix or just keep this method, the new system will be used for Planet Coaster 2 (maybe Planet Zoo) projects. Well I think that about covers it, that's the business and the fun is just ahead. Rock on!

Nice update! "...which is housed in the giant box, which I don't see at all". Ha! You're right, the giant show building just fades away! Box? What box?

Thank you! I know I don't see anything, some people are seeing things that don't exist. 🤣

The beautiful tower lives on in your new compy! Yay!

Looking awesome so far, love what you did with the entrance - like I've said before Hollywood can be very very difficult to work with since all the structures are somewhat similar but different. But in the eyes of RCT3 it's very very difficult to pull off "subtle differences" and details that Hollywood needs to shine but you're pulling it off very well! Excited to see what comes next!

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

The main entrance of this park has been my favorite piece-by-piece build as it has been a lot of reference images and getting crafty. Plus Tower Of Terror in the background just adds  to it.

Hollywood, 1939.

Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie town at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right.

A beacon for the show business elite.

Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.

My favorite tower 😍

Glad to hear the park is working again! The RCT3 gods probably decided to just randomly grace you apparently, no idea why it randomly started working again haha

I have no idea either, it is a bit temperamental.

If that happens in my park, please destroy my computer.

Good morning from Disney's Hollywood Studios!

l5ziTgX.jpeg

Saturday mornings are meant for the movies. Disney's Hollywood Studios is experiencing heavy development in preparation for something that is to be announced soon. To accommodate more guests and experiences, the Imagineers have been hard at work redeveloping some of the guest areas.

OCQmN5s.jpeg

Horticulture has reworked our palm trees throughout the park. This effort started a refresh of the landscaping which will continue as the park sees more areas being redeveloped. The main entrance has been an area that has seen little work done to it, primarily fencing at the entrance gates and some surrounding areas.

DCGQDlx.jpeg

A topic that has been discussed is the Chinese Theater. We are wanting to bring something behind the sorcerer's hat rather than a concrete jungle or dense foliage. We already have the Carthay Circle Theater that leads into the right side of the park but looking down at the hat there is just empty space. There have been attempts at the Chinese Theater and it is a difficult structure with some of the details not yet being done in RCT3. Yes this is me ranting 🤣.

vTPqxvr.jpeg

Another area that is needing some love is Animation Courtyard. Imagineers have redeveloped the paths near the archway as this was intended to lead into Toy Story Land and other areas that were just concepts. Looking at the other Disney studio parks, Animation Courtyard could be a collection of popular stories. This could also integrate into a Pixar area to include some of the areas we have fallen in love with. The creator of much of the scenery in this park actually teased Monsters Inc. (also Rock 'N Roller Coaster and Chinese Theater 🤣) content which now that Florida is getting that area, would make sense and add a real fun area to create and adapt from what is coming. Yes more of me ranting, Hollywood Studios is an IP heavy park that needs love 😅.

Previously this area was wide open much like the space behind the sorcerer's hat. Moby's curved walls with the archway has created a divider between the main entrance and Animation Courtyard. Something small that oddly works. This also cut off one pathway to the hat that only had a show exit connected to it.

mpJxVvz.jpeg

Trolley Car Cafe is still needing development, but that will be included in the phase of opening gift shops and other merchandise locations for guests. Starbucks is currently the only operating shop. Guests sure do love their custom mugs and cups.

4Ab3yiZ.jpeg

A recent change is the removal of the Carthay Circle fountain. This was in an effort to improve the future guest flow to popular attractions in the right side of the park. This is also near the Starbucks location and future Trolley Car Cafe.

wzOph6E.jpeg

Here is where rumor mill begins to turn. With recent news about Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida, this brings to light the addition of a small area to a rather dead area in this park. Rock 'N Roller Coaster is still in the works for Dubai and will remain Aerosmith. To balance thrills and family however, ideas of bringing a small area to include Muppet Vision 3D are being worked up.

In terms of RCT3, this will be a piece-by-piece build integrating some of the facades of Grand Avenue. Looking at the real-world facades, it will take a little bit of time, but the custom scenery that is needed we already have. Grand Avenue would also be able to incorporate Rock 'N Roller Coaster in its footprint considering the archway to that attraction's area could be seen as an entrance to a music venue that has Aerosmith as its main act. The concept is still in the works, but this would eliminate the dead space near Carthay Circle Theater and create more guest areas.

ayxg7Ph.jpeg

And around the corner would be The Hollywood Tower Hotel. A requirement for every guest visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios 😉.

It has been a long time since I have done an update on here for this project. I found workarounds to loading issues and even have the ability to swap to night mode (currently, probably not in the future). I am paying close attention to Florida's version as there is a lot that should be done to that park that are just being pushed to the side for cheap rethemes/layovers.

My goal for this project (and others) is to take what has been popular and successful and integrate it with good ideas Imagineering has created. One example is how Monsters Inc. is one that has mixed reviews based on where it is going and their bandage to keep the Muppets in the park. Personally, Animation Courtyard could be so much more at that park than a reworked Little Mermaid stage show, Disney Junior, and the Star Wars Launch Bay. Sure, space is limited at that park, but it is also being wasted. Also, IPs aimed at families should be kept with attractions and experiences that allow the wide age range to enjoy it rather than putting the IP on a coaster that is too intense for some members of the family. Muppets being integrated in the Rock 'N Roller Coaster is possibly one of the most confusing rethemes Disney has announced. I am sure much of the community has the same sentiments, this is why we play these games, to get our creative ideas and opinions out there. This is a fun project and I am excited to keep developing it.

"it is a difficult structure with some of the details not yet being done in RCT3. Yes this is me ranting".  Such language! I had to cover my sensitive ears.

This is all coming together nicely, Cody. And I agree, the Muppets in Rock 'N Roller Coaster? 😬

Oh no, it probably came out like Spongebob dolphin noises 🤣.

Thank you @JB this project is definitely a tough one, but still fun to create. The Muppets retheme of Rock 'N Roller Coaster is probably one of the most absurd rethemes in Disney's recent decisions. There have been some rethemes that have oddly worked despite criticisms, but this one confuses me from the thrill level versus wide age range. Plus, it is worrisome at what they may do in terms of physical theming and where budget cuts will be easily noticeable.

Super Bowl Sunday means one thing.......someone is going to Disney World. For Dubai, it began the land clearing phase for the Grand Avenue addition.

KnBno6V.jpeg

A large plot of land between the Trolley Car Cafe and the entrance to Rock 'N Roller Coaster. With Grand Avenue, Rock 'N Roller Coaster is more than likely going to be integrated into the area. I mentioned this yesterday, but the idea makes much more sense with the land being cleared.

ezo4CJf.jpeg

All that occupied the cleared space was landscaping and backstage areas. With Grand Avenue there will be backstage areas, but more guest areas to help get more guests to stay in the right side of the park and experience popular attractions. Plus there will be a salute to all nations, but mostly America 😉. Big things are happening at the movies!
