What's good is really good, and what's bad is really, really, I mean really bad.
There was no need to change the working interface that we're all used to, and while the pathing has a lot of improvements, I'm struggling with the tools... cannot make paths or pools do what I want so far and I realize much of it is user error and my personal long training curve.
I really miss edge scrolling.
The UI makes everything take 10x longer and in 2 days I think I've accomplished what I could have previously done in under 2 hours. It will get better as I learn the process but it was just all so unnecessary.
The game was designed for console players by console players, and while it's nice to have some familiar scenery back, it also adds to the sense that this was a very rushed and lazy build which kind of seems to be Frontier's standard method of operations since before Zoo came out.
Which is all quite sad, given that there's also a lot packed into this base game release and functionality we've wanted for a long time has been added. Piece scalability is truly a game changer, almost everything is recolorable, and the graphics are quite beautiful. It will be awhile before I know how good or bad performance is. If this were an official review I would say that the potential is there but it might be worth waiting another 6 months to see how attentive and aggressive they are at addressing our concerns.
