Wednesday at 11:47 PM3 days Hey all, haven't seen this shared yet, so in case you haven't heard the news... Frontier has announced Planet Zoo 2!You can read more info on it here:https://www.planetzoogame.com/news/celebrating-six-years-planet-zooAlso, here's a video celebrating six years of Planet Zoo: What do you all think of Planet Zoo 2? What are you hoping to see? there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
Thursday at 04:27 AM3 days Never really got into 1, so 2 holds very little appeal. My bigger concern is whether this announcement signals the end for PC2?
Thursday at 11:46 AM3 days To be honest...I've bought Planet Zoo and all the expansions...but other than opening the game one time to look around for a few minutes, I've never played it. For myself, there re only so many hours in a day where I can sit down and play any game, and my focus the past few years has been with Planet Coaster...the first one. I've barely even played with PC2 either, for the exact same reasons, plus I held off because of all the problems it had over the first months.Once I finish my current PC1 project I hope to be able to explore either PZ or PC2.My concern is that work on PZ2 might cut into any future work on PC2.
Thursday at 12:10 PM3 days Also I'm wondering, just what improvements could they make to justify starting over with a new game? Things in PZ (at least from the outside not playing it...), always looked far more advanced than PC1 (and even in some things with PC2...). There's a ton of animals in the current game, ton's of scenery, so what could they add there? Gameplay seems pretty basic, so what could change with it to justify moving to a new game? Possibly improvements to the game engine? I assume (but certainly don't know...), that DLC from the first game won't be able to trnsfer to the second...so that's a lot of content out the window (not that they haven't gone that route before...). Will there be enough of a difference between the two titles...or is this more of a money grab? (Not saying it is, but...)Not having bought any of the Jurassic Park titles, anyone have a view on the changes from one to the sequel in those? Was there enough of a difference in content or gameplay?

That's what we got going from JWE1 to 2 so I hope we get the same thing in PZ2, although I really hope that tanks and aviaries will be a LOT more modular in PZ2 than in JWE3 (not to mention 2!)

My bigger concern is whether this announcement signals the end for PC2?Frontier has planned to do the sequel for quite some time, in conjunction with PC2. So this should in no way impact its continued development. We just got PC2's anniversary update and confirmation that more is coming before the year's end and beyond. Frontier's financial reports suggest a minimum of 3 years of support, so hopefully they stick with that plan.As far as what I feel about the Planet Zoo sequel... I don't expect it to be a huge technological leap ahead of PZ1. I do expect many of the new features we got in PC2 like the new paths and scaling ability, plus better lighting and improved graphics. I'm not too keen on it coming out just as I've begun playing the original. But that's just bad timing on my part. Will I purchase the game? Maybe. If it's got aquariums, I might build an aquatic park, like SeaWorld. 😉Oh, and "hi" ChicagoZohan. 😀 Edited Friday at 02:43 AM2 days by shyguy "...if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists." --Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park)
Friday at 10:37 PM1 day Author Planet Zoo was way more popular and a bigger financial success than Planet Coaster was to Frontier so I'm not surprised that a sequel is in the works. I haven't touched much of Planet Zoo myself but interested to see what the main focus of the sequel will be! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
