RCT3 Vanilla looks stretched with 16:9 ratio

Does anyone know how to fix the RCT3 Vanilla cam so that it won't look stretched on 16:9 aspect ratio? Tried to look on the Steam forums, but it only covers Platinum and CE unfortunately. And I would like to do it on RCT3 Vanilla because I usually make my pyros there with its AFE.

From Google:

To fix RCT3's 16:9 aspect ratio, you need to manually edit the Options.txt file located in the game's configuration folder (usually found in your AppData directory on Windows) and change the Resolution value to your monitor's native 16:9 resolution, such as Resolution 1920 1080 for 1080p.

Steps to fix the aspect ratio:

  1. Locate the Options.txt file:

    • On Windows: Navigate to C:\\Users\\(your username)\\AppData\\Roaming\\Atari\\RCT3\\.

    • If AppData is hidden: Go to "View" in the File Explorer and enable "Show hidden files" or hold the "Alt" key while using the "Go" menu in Finder to reveal the Library folder on Mac.

  2. Open the file: Open Options.txt with a text editor like Notepad.

  3. Edit the Resolution line: Find the line that begins with Resolution and change the existing values to your desired 16:9 resolution.

    • For example, to set the game to 1920x1080, change the line to Resolution 1920 1080.

  4. Save the file: Save the Options.txt file and exit the text editor.

  5. Launch the game: The game will now launch with the new resolution set, allowing it to fit your 16:9 screen without stretching.

Yeah, I've seen this happen before as well because I use RCT3 Vanilla to make pyro too. The game originally released in a 4:3 aspect ratio, but if you set a 16:9 aspect ratio in Options.txt like Wabigbear mentioned, it should work. I don't recommend setting it to a high resolution if you have a 4K monitor because the UI doesn't scale with the custom resolution, and it can get very small to read (especially when working with numbers in the AFE). I usually manually reduce my monitor screen resolution in Display Settings on Windows (just right click on your desktop background and click on Display Settings) and set a custom resolution in Options.txt, which makes it much easier to see.

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

I have it like this: Resolution 1600 900

For some reason the park camera still looked stretched, and the CoasterCam hack only works on Platinum/CE AFAIK, IDK if anyone has done it on Vanilla tbh

But 1600 900 is the game's default ratio, don't you want to change it to your monitor's ratio? What is it? If it's 1920 1080, then you need to change the game's ratio to match it.

Wolfpaw made an excellent point. Remember that the ratio you set for the game needs to match the ratio set for the monitor to avoid stretching.

Actually, looking into this a little more, someone mentioned that they got their monitor to display the game's native 4:3. If the above still doesn't work, try this below...

Start a game, then click on the save button and go down to "Options". To get it back to 4:3, either choose Window mode or one of the 3 resolutions that would fit best. Personally, I just play on windowed mode, which default to 4:3, and then click and drag it to be a decent size to play it as large as possible without going full screen.

Just realised that you're trying to do it on Vanilla and Nulano's guide is only for Platinum or Complete.

Sorry, @Anon-P . I don't have a copy of the Vanilla rct.exe file, so I can't provide instructions to fix it. (I'd need a copy so I could examine the code and look for the right hex values to adjust, using Nulano's method as a guide)

I don't even know if it's possible to adjust FOV/Aspect Ratio in Vanilla, beyond the resolutions it was built to work with. I think you may be out of luck.

Sorry. :^(

So, I tried the CoasterCam thing and, I don't really found the correct address. And when I replace the whole addresses with the same hex values with the one from the doc, it messed up the FoV of the camera. Not to mention that RCT3 Vanilla's default aspect ratio is 4:3, not 5:4
