Posted August 5, 2024Aug 5 As we are almost ready to release Bench One of our Wonderful World Of Oz project (and have two other benches just about ready to show...), it now come time to make the TMTK items created for these benches public and shared in the Workshop... This will be a somewhat slow process...mostly because there are so far some 660 objects that have been made, and I have to go back through and reset each to be viewable to the public. Some items won't actually show up until one of the later benches, but since we were working on different benches at the same time, and I made TMTK items as we needed them, they are somewhat mixed together. We're still building so the total number of TMTK items will continue to grow...so much for my stance that I wasn''t going to make a bunch of custom items again after our Disney America project... But let me be upfront - I'm not a graphic designer, I'm not a game designer, I'm not an artist, aand I'm not an expert at Blender...by far. The vast majority of these items are quiet simple, mostly created because the use of in-game billboards causes problems for some people. Some items were created with one front face if the were designed to go on a wall. Few items required LOD's being quite simple. Some items use fairly large texture files because for our purposes those looked better in the game, so note the file size before downloading so that you are aware. Some items that are flat 2-D cutouts mat have a slight 'halo' of pixels around then that I wasn't always able to remove. There are a couple items for which there are duplicate or similar versions...mostly because I forgot to go back and remove the old one so just left them there. Few items are 'perfect'...but most items worked for OUR purposes which is what they were intended for. If something might work for you as well then you are most welcome to use them. If some item isn't quite right or the file size too large, then perhaps someone else has something that will fit your needs even if ours won't. If you find something that you could use and would like to try improving upon it (admittedly easy for many to do!), just ask and I'll be more than happy to share the Blender files with you. I'll post screenshots of the items made public on the Workshop as I can... These items will show up in the Workshop under "OZ", which each of them has in their name Edited August 5, 2024Aug 5 by Wabigbear
August 5, 2024Aug 5 Author These are the OZ TMTK items with names from A to G... Some items have emissive sections or as a whole... These are not being released alphabetically, but instead by age...the oldest files first...
August 7, 2024Aug 7 Thanks so much for releasing these, I'm sure everyone is super happy to be able to use these in their own parks! Your project and items are built really well, so I'm excited to see how people use them! there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
August 9, 2024Aug 9 As Wagi mentioned, most of this stuff is OZ specific, but I could easily see it in other fantasy parks, and certainly there are tons of generic signs and window inserts. He has really worked his bottom off on all this CS, and it makes the park so much the better! Thank you Wagi! 🤩
September 30, 2024Sep 30 Author Currently if you search for "OZ" in the Frontier Workshop for TMTK items, it will show some 680 items. Of those 600+ are objects created for our Wonderful World of Oz project. Some good, some not so good, some with large file sizes, some meant for very specific purposes. But they are available for those who might choose to use them (Sometimes I feel like the OSUDenny of Planet Coaster - longtime RCT3 players might recall Denny for his proficiency in creating custom scenery, not all of which fit with everyone's tastes or needs but which he willingly shared for anyone who might want to use them...) I'll try to post more screenshots of the items...
April 16Apr 16 I just checked your workshop page. You've made over 1400 objects as of today!!! You HAVE been busy. I've just imported my first object today. I have a long way to catch up with you. Actually, I don't plan on making too many objects. Just a few for some parks I'm going to finish up in PC1. Then I'll move over to PC2. Too bad none of these objects can be ported into that game. Maybe in the future...
April 17Apr 17 Author Ah, thanks shyguy!Yeah 1400 objects...a few of them actually worth using for some people! LOL! Admittedly most of that stuff was park/theme specific, and only because there wasn't anything else out there that we could use, so I just went ahead and made it. Thankfully most of it was fairly simple things like signage, the rare more complex items I struggled with adding proper LOD's, and some textures were overly large. Simple things I can make totally in Blender (I use 2.78 because that's what MsRedNebula's tutorial used...), and more complex stuff I actually made in SketchUp, which I've first learned CSO on back in RCT3, transfer the fil to Blender and then continue on.I'll never win any rewards for my TMTK items, but I made them to suit our purposes and if anyone else finds a use for any of them then that's just a nice extra. m And I enjoyed cranking them out.I'm like the OSUDenny of TMTK objects...just without any bimbo posters. 😄Can't wait to see what you come up with, your CSO set the standard in RCT3!
April 17Apr 17 Likewise, I'll be making stuff for my parks. If anyone else can use them, great. (Pretty much the way I worked in RCT3) Also, I suspect most will be fairly simple creations, as my model building has always been very simple objects made up of simple shapes. The hardest and most time consuming part is finding and making the textures look good in game. And dealing with failed imports with "unknown errors". I spent hours submitting and re-submitting an item, just to finally discover I had mis-named the icon file. But the TMTK website couldn't tell me this, and I went back to Blender, re-doing stuff over and over until I finally discovered my stupid mistake.I'm also using MsRedNebula's tutorials, but using Blender 4.4, so the UI is much different. Luckily there's Google and Co-Pilot which are also great for getting step by step instructions for the latest version. I installed the TMTK plug-in, which has helped greatly, although it messes up when making LODs, and sometimes my models self destruct in game as I move the camera away. But regardless, I'm having a ball. Feels like back in the RCT3 days. Edited April 17Apr 17 by shyguy
