The more I see the main gate, the more I like it! There must be a strict dress code to enter this park: All the guests on the tram are wearing white! classic_tongue

I think it was either a National Physicians Convention nearby, or The Little Sisters of Mercy were there collecting canned goods...I forget.

I think the guy's shirt with the skulls on it is a bad omen.💀 I see that this Kansas town also has its share of Painless Dentists. All the news that's fit to print! Which comes in handy if you happen to own the newspaper. Nice mid-west town. Thanks, Wagi.

"Thank citytrrader". Oops. You guys collaborate on your parks so much, and hand them off to each other. Sometimes I get confused as to who is doing what. Thanks, citytrader! Oh, and thanks to Wagi for slapping some signs around. ;-)

So there are rumblings and rumors that Epic Universe is having an expansion in Florida, and that expansion will be a Wizard of Oz area... I immediately thought of this project. Gonna need you two to contact Universal and just send them this park because this needs to become a reality, kthx.

there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

Yea, apparently a lot of the assets and construction walls that they are putting into the new area is all very green and the Wicked director is apparently attending some Epic Universe conference or party or something... just a rumor for now though, so take with a grain of salt!

Yeah heard the same rumor. Other's think the green beams are just to construct a tall fence to block sightlines to the water treatment plant next door...similar to the themed walls they added around the Hagrid's ride at IOA. The green supports could support themed walls to look like a forest.

Someone else claims they are just items staged there for a multipurpose building going in near Atlantic Restaurant, one that can be used for special events

Doesn't mean they won't be for a Wicked area in either case...

Personally my complete and utterly uneducated guess is that it could be both those things. Wicked is definitely 'hot' at the moment and they could tie into that if it was done rapidly...which sadly might mean 'simply' as well...

But I'm thinking that among the first areas to have a large expansion will be Harry Potter They definitely need a second ride to relieve some of the pressure on the Ministry of Magic ride. Nintendo will eventually, but is okay for now (I heard rumors that Zelda might end up in IOA, spreading Nintendo around like they did with Potter) , Monsters will also, but is okay for now, but LOTR would require more than just a simple ride and some theming I'd think, thus probably down the line a bit.

But then your guess is as good as mine!

More Kansas soon!

Edited by citytrader

As this was started while I was away, I've yet to view the whole thread from beginning to end, but working on it over the last few days. This is definitely a labor of love and I'm enjoying what I've seen so far.

Odd that they would do LOTR, as the movies weren't produced by Universal. I know they can, or have, acquired a license to add stuff in the park based on the books, but can't use any images from the Jackson movies. I'm curious to see if they do this, and how, without using the iconic images from those films.

Really wonderful facades on these buildings! I guess there would be no point in having 'memorial windows' on this street, like they do on Disneyland's Main Street. Everything would be "Gulch" this and "Gulch" that. ;-)

Funny you should mention that!

As we move further into the land of "E Pluribus Unum", the business names do change. All the shops are named for people involved in the classic 1939 film.

Margaret Hamilton, the wicked witch, Hamilton's Department store;

[img]img%5D

Victor Fleming, one of the three directors on the film, famous for chewing cigars, of course gets the cigar shop;

[img]img%5D

Jack Haley, always dapper and well groomed, played the tin man, is memorialized in the Haberdashery;

[img]img%5D

Bert Lahr, the lion, a fancy little bistro;

[img]img%5D

Richard Thorpe, the original director, was fired after two weeks on set. He is represented in the Hardware store;

[img]img%5D

Frank Morgan, who played the wizard himself, as well as the guard, the doorman, and the driver of the horse of a different color, has a notary office;

[img]img%5D

Backing up just a little bit, here's a shot of the horse drawn carriage;

[img]img%5D

[img]img%5D

And a closer look at the horse barn;

[img]img%5D

Of course, at the top of the street sits the forbidding home of Almira Gulch herself. She doesn't like to be disturbed!

[img]img%5D

Not quite Cinderella's castle, is it? 🤣

Maybe a quick peek backstage next!

Really nice! Your Kansas Main Street has more of a real-life look to it than say, Disney's idealistic Main Street. I like both styles, they each serve their purpose. When Almira Gulch is away on business, we should bling-up her house by painting it shocking pink and electric blue, with lots of sparkly gold trim. She would like that, right?

I almost always worked on this bench while it was closed and paused, so it's cool to now see it again full of guests!

"When Almira Gulch is away on business, we should bling-up her house by painting it shocking pink and electric blue, with lots of sparkly gold trim. She would like that, right?"

But why would she want HER house to look just like YOUR house??? Especially the sparkly gold trim??? 🤨

"But why would she want HER house to look just like YOUR house??? Especially the sparkly gold trim???"

Well yes, my house does look like that. But I was referring to the coloration of present-day Disney castles. And besides, my house is in a different state, so there would be no competition. LET'S DO IT !!1!!!!11!!1

Well, now that we have solved that issue.

A quick peek backstage;

[img]img%5D

One of the horses need a little cleanup before heading out to the park.

Hidden by the Coca Cola billboard is the paddock for the resting and feeding horses. They only work in two hour shifts, then four off. I wonder if I could get a job like that?

[img]img%5D

A couple of workers hang out near the rear of the fire station. Mowers, sweepers, forklifts, and utility vehicles all lined up to clean up the park after closing.

[img]img%5D

Some of the storage warehouses and workshops backstage;

[img]img%5D

Cold storage warehouse;

[img]img%5D

The prop and costuming departments;

[img]img%5D

The junkyard;

[img]img%5D

And finally, OZ Corp central offices, parent company CW, Inc.;

[img]img%5D

Wagi, of course, has the entire top floor to himself.

I thought the horses, looking awfully stiff, were animatronic. But I guess I was wrong, with that steaming pile of.... stuff.... unless the stuff is also animatronic.classic_tongue I see that all the utility vehicles are in Oz colors; or maybe John Deere colors. Your backstage areas look great. Not highly detailed, but that makes them look realistic.

"Wagi, of course, has the entire top floor to himself."

Well, it was hard to fit the hot tub and the soft serve ice cream machine into one of them little cubicles everyone else has...and where would my barbecue grill and massage table go?

Really people- must I suffer just because of lack of appropriate square footage??? I feel a headache coming on from this stress...

If you want me I'll be napping in my suite...just let the butler know...

The Weisshorn and the Monte Leone are basically the same ride, one with the fancy surround, and one without. You can also select whether or not to have the cover up, down, or alternate.

[img]img%5D

Unfortunately, the balloon ride is just a prop, not an actual ride. It just rises and lowers. You probably caught a glimpse of it in some of the previous pictures.

[img]img%5D

How cool would it be if it was a real ride?

Some newer stuff on the green beams shows land moving around the perimeter making it pretty clear that this will be a huge wall to block the view of the water treatment plant near the park. I put my money on that option.
