February 16Feb 16 Author Right next to Scrap's Scrambler, the Build a Bear Workshop company has a concession where you can build a scarecrow! What else!And across from that shop is an entertaining indoor attraction, the Cornrow Theatre, where the Scarecrow presents "Crows vs. Scarecrows", a multimedia show featuring live costumed actors and animatronics.Just a small fountain!
March 7Mar 7 Author One of the centerpieces of YBR Kingdom is the Great Sawhorse Race. Envisioned by the Goddard Group as a race on wooden horses around a track, for our purposes, we used the go cart track. It worked out pretty well.On to the pictures;The entrance building;The judge's observation post. A rework of Fisherman's life guard station;The starting gate;
March 7Mar 7 Those are... um... interesting sawhorses you have there. Are you sure they aren't sawllamas? (Sorry, I can't help it. I was made this way.) I love the playful colors and, well, the playful everything!
March 7Mar 7 Those 'llamas' as shown in the bottom image were designed by Mr Baum himself (or some illustrator who came along later...) Granted the one's designed by Goddard look more like horses, but we strive for historical accuracy here! LOL! I think citytrader did an outstanding job translating this to Planet Coaster.
March 7Mar 7 Author Thanks Wagi & JB!The "sawhorses" awaiting their riders!There are bleachers for those who would rather watch than ride;The clubhouse turn;Some obstacles on the back stretch;
March 7Mar 7 Now that I see the original sawhorse, I'm impressed that you got it so accurate! I like the obstacles in the back stretch pic. Do the karts actually have to swerve around them? Or do they just go straight down the center?
March 8Mar 8 Author Underneath the topiary, there are tire and steel obstacles. In-game, the carts freewheel all over the track, and swerve to avoid obstacles.If I ever figure out how to make videos, I'll give this a go. My video card does not have that capability.
March 14Mar 14 Author Moving right along, a few more shots of the sawhorse derby;The bridge over the track to the bleachers;The final turn;Headed toward the finish line;One of the thrill rides in YBR Country is Courage. Are you as brave as the Cowardly Lion? I know I'm not! I would lose my lunch on this thing!
March 14Mar 14 I like that the lion statue is wearing his "courage" medal. Such a beautiful Go-Kart course!
March 23Mar 23 Watched Wicked on Friday and now a bunch of ideas are hitting me for some existing RCT3 projects. This one is incredible and you are pulling some really creative ideas into this project (and your RCT3 one) that work with so many characters and ride types. Amazing!
March 27Mar 27 Author So moving right along, we come to the Cowardly Lion's other attraction in Yellow Brick Country, The Lion's Courage.It's a dark ride where things are not as they really seem. In the original Goddard plans, you would ride through the haunted forest seeing all kinds of scary sights, which would turn into something completely unscary, such as a spooky tree turning into a waving farmer, or a pack of scary wolves morphing into a flock of sheep, (you get the idea). I guess it was supposed to show the lion's perception of the big bad scary world vs. the reality.I did build an interior here, but it's pretty minimal;"Have you tried counting sheep?""That's no good, I'm afraid of them!"
March 28Mar 28 I've always liked those trees (in the first pic) with the leaves/fronds hanging down. I don't know what kind of tree it is though. That's an interesting concept for a dark ride; scary things that turn out to not be scary after all. No wonder the Cowardly Lion is afraid to count sheep. They're sheep in wolves clothing!
April 9Apr 9 Author I had a weird shaped little corner on the bench, so I thought, why not a jitterbug ride?A whole dance number that took place in the haunted forest was filmed, and then cut from the final film. A giant spider bit Dorothy and company when they set out to find and kill the wicked witch. The bite of the jitterbug caused the victim to dance themselves to death. Based on some surviving stills, and a crew members home movies, we can see what the number may have looked like. All I can say is it's a good thing they cut it! Looks pretty silly!Anyway, here's the jitterbug ride;Only two more major attractions in YBR Country!
April 16Apr 16 When citytrader makes Planet Coaster 1 better looking than Planet Coaster 2.. 😆Love this project so much, so many cool areas but the really cool things are in all the small details you throw in there. Will there be a full video walkthrough of the park once it's all completed? there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
April 18Apr 18 Author Sure, wolfpaw! I'll send you the file, and you make it! 🤣Seriously, I have no concept on how to do that!You might want to take a short break at Tin Town, a small snack area in YBR Country. I think I see it up ahead!Need your tin man repaired?Lots of food choices, if you like oil!We leave Tin Town behind and head toward...
April 18Apr 18 Ah, if only the Tin Man Factory made hearts, the Tin Man could have told that scary old Wizard to go fly a kite... or a balloon. This is a well themed, clever little area!
July 21Jul 21 Author Haven't been around all that much as my mother has not been doing well (she's 92!) but it has occurred to me that we never actually released this bench.So over the next few weeks, I'll be presenting a visual tour of bench one which includes Main Street Kansas, the Gale family farm, Professor Marvel's World, and most of Munchkinland.As you may or may not recall, we based this park more or less on some plans that were developed back in the 90's by the Goddard Group to create an actual OZ park outside of Kansas City. Political intrigue and zoning issues prevented the park from being built. We have obviously taken a huge amount of poetic license with the original plans, but Wagi and I are very proud to present this park for everyone's enjoyment!Looks like the crowds are starting to grow on opening day;[img]Free park maps or you can download the park app;[img]Ticket and information booths;[img]It's a beautiful day![img]Heading toward the main gate;[img]Overview of the parking area and grand entrance;[img]The three hundred or so cars have been removed from the park for obvious reasons!We'll enter the park next time!
July 22Jul 22 6 hours ago, JB said:I like those alabaster(?) Art Deco elements in front of the main gate.Me too! Can't take credit though, the gate was a Workshop download that I just tweaked a little, but I love the detailing.
July 22Jul 22 Author For JB, a couple more shots of the main gate;[img][img]I wonder what wonderful things await us inside?[img]We would be remiss if we didn't back up a bit and show you all our amazing parking lot!This "interesting" sign beckons you to visit;[img]The charming entrance gate;[img]The west parking lot! I added cars, crashed the game, reopened, added cars again, and got the screenshot before crashing again![img]Trust me, the east parking lot is pretty much the same!Another view of the parking lot approach to the main gates;[img]Just in case you've forgotten where you are;[img]Kansas is coming up!
July 22Jul 22 The more I see the main gate, the more I like it! There must be a strict dress code to enter this park: All the guests on the tram are wearing white!
