May 19May 19 This past week I've run into an occasional weird problem. While I can copy and paste previously placed paths without problem, if I use the regular path tool to place queue paths or regular path, it lets me place a piece or two and then suddenly the game drops down to 1 or 2 fps. I can't close out the path tool, I can barely move in the park, can't open settings, and finally end up closing the game in Task Manager. It also did this when trying to edit a texture or remove kerbs on previously placed paths.Checked the support tickets, found one with the same problem from a couple months ago so added to it.Everything else in the park is running fine, just the problem with paths. Luckily the game saves frequently enough that I lose very little, and everything is fine when I topen the bench again later...until I mess with paths again.
May 19May 19 That's odd, do you have this copy via Steam? You could try repairing the game files, as that sometimes fixes weird issues like that. Right click on your game in Steam's Library > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game filesThat could be a potential fix. there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
May 19May 19 Author Yep, I verify regularly as sometimes it won't upload properly to the cloud. Others have had similar problems and was recommended to verify your files before it uploads.I re-opened and built a few things in the park just now, went to move some previously placed paths, and it did the same thing - dropped down to 2-3 fps. But this time it did come out of the laggy pause after a couple minutes. Strange indeed. Not sure why paths seem to have a problem for me.
May 19May 19 Solution Hmm, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the game and see if that fixes it? If not then there has to be a conflict with some software or something on your game. there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
May 20May 20 Author I uninstalled and reinstalled, made sure the mods were updated, and so far it seems to be working fine, Even moved a few odds and ends of pathing and no lag nor crashes, so hopefully that took care of it! Thanks for your help!
May 20May 20 Nice! Glad to know it's working now! Seems like it was probably some corrupt game file or something. there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
May 22May 22 Author Spoke too soon...Everything works great in the park...except paths...sometimes. Not every time, but occasionally when I need to delete a path and change where it's going, or to change something about it. That's when the lag starts in and after a couple minutes the game is basically frozen. If I hit 'Esc" to try to get out of it it will eventually take me to the save/resume/collab menu, but is frozen there, so I end up having to close in in task manager. I can re-open the game and everything will be fine...until I need to mess with paths again.
May 23May 23 Do you work with the game paused? What kind of PC do you have? What graphics card? "The squeaky wheel gets the kick." -- Minsc (Baldur's Gate)
May 23May 23 Author Yes, paused. It's a Dell desktop, i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz (8 CPUs), 32768MB RAM, DirectX12, with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 card, 22241 Memory, 5955 MB dedicated. Not the most powerful by any means and a few years old now.

May 24May 24 Author Yes, I have the game installed on my "D" drive, which is SSD, it still has 850 GB free. I am one of the people who Frontier thinks the game has crashed every time I close it. It didn't of course and there's others who get the same crash report upon closing. I don't have game settings maxed out, other than I think I have textures set pretty high, I might adjust that. Only thing specific to the use of paths I can think of is that I often just copy and paste a section of previous pathing if it's just straight sections. That seems to work just fine, other than a slight pause while it's being placed, which I think is normal. Placing paths the normal way as in PC1 works. It's only when I go to edit a path - for instance changing the texture or use of curbs or railings on a path that was included on a Workshop item, or changing how it connects to other paths. Someone with a different problem with paths suggested it might be because the game has to reconfigure peep walkways, but since my experience doesn't seem to be common I'd have to wonder if that's the cause.I'm still able to open and play the bench, and can build without problems, so I'm saving any path related tweaks until towards the end of the session in case it decides to lag and freeze up again. The auto saves are fine, so I don't lose much work anyways if it dose. Thanks for the suggestions!
May 24May 24 Don't think it's related to your PC or else you'd see a lot of issues in other areas of the game. Do you have any mods or custom things installed for the game? It could be a conflicting error with a mod. You could try disabling them/removing everything custom from the game and see if you still experience the issue. If not, try adding things one by one back and see when it pops up again, then you will have found your culprit. there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
May 24May 24 Author Yeah, I have several mods installed - ACES, TooMuchScaling, NoTrackLimits, and SkyStudio. I don't use NoTracks nor SkyStudio much, so I'll try removing them first.
May 24May 24 The SkyStudio mod causes the "game crashed" notification you're getting. I have the same mods installed that you have, so I'm stumped. "The squeaky wheel gets the kick." -- Minsc (Baldur's Gate)
May 25May 25 Author I removed NoTracksLimits and SkyStudio, and so far no lag or freezing. I don't really use NoTracks, but I'll re-install SkyStudio and see what happens.
May 25May 25 SkyStudio requires ForgeUtils. Forgot to ask if you had that one installed. If you didn't, maybe it causes problems having SkyStudio installed without it, though I would expect SkyStudio wouldn't work at all. Just trying to troubleshoot this. May 26May 26 Author No, just ACES is installed I think. You might have come across the problem. I'll download it and see if anything changes... Thanks!
May 26May 26 Yea sounds like some conflicting issue with some custom mods, glad to see you're narrowing it down! Let us know if the problem is fixed, others might come across this thread with the same issue 😉 there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
May 27May 27 Author Strangely enough...it froze again while changing textures on a path. However this time after a couple minutes I was able to Esc out of it Placing paths hasn't acted up, just when editing previously placed paths like on someone's Workshop release. The only thing I haven't removed is the ACES mod. I installed the ForgeUtils mod shyguy suggested without problem (although SkyStudio did work before without it, although I just played round with the clouds and fog settings one time and haven't touched it since...).It's not stopping me from continuing to work on my park project, so I'm not panicking about it, just trying to figure out what is causing it...
May 27May 27 Very odd. And now that I think of it, I'm not totally sure you need ForgeUtils for the SkyStudio version you must be using. There is a newer version that I know requires ForgeUtils (which broke after the last update). The older version of SkyStudio still works fine, with or without ForgeUtils.
