Impressions of PC2, now that I've started playing it...
Aside from a lot of missing content that I'm hoping will return, PC2 is a joy to work with compared to PC1. Well, not exactly a joy, as it still has a lot of annoyances. There's a bit of a learning curve, especially with path building, but once you get the hang of it and learn some tricks, I think you will appreciate all the changes they've made. I love the way that paths are now basically building "pieces" and can be moved around, edited, lifted up and down and placed wherever you want, just like any other object. The scaling makes all the difference when creating complex objects and buildings, making it so much more versatile than PC1. I won't get into the negatives here, but suffice to say, for everything that is good in this game, there is something else that sucks or is broken. But at the end of the day, I much prefer building in PC2 and every time I go back to work on an old PC1 park, I feel so limited in what I can do.

Thanks citytrader. I'll consider adding Thomas the Tank Engine to the lineup of the next show. As far as AI, there are many to choose from and I honestly can't recommend one over the other, as I haven't used most of them. I get my AI images and videos from a website called ElevenLabs, which offers a variety to choose from. But it is not free. There is a monthly subscription rate. I also get all the voices for my videos from that site. But there are free ones available, you've just got to google AI and check them out yourself.

I had fully planned to use bubbles in that segment. And then discovered that bubbles, like all water effects, don't show up under artificial light in this game. So I had to come up with another option. Yes you can. I had Wanda dancing and singing in the Animal World - Episode 2 video. But using AI is tricky, as you can get very mixed results, with AI adding stuff that you don't want. Sometimes it comes out great, and other times you want to scream at the AI and yell "WTF! That's not what I wanted!" You've got to try out a few different AIs to see which one works best for you. To recreate scenes inside your own park, you'll need one that you can upload screenshots so it will (most of the time) recreate it to look exactly like your park. And you also need to keep in mind that some people hate AI images and the use of it. I'm always waiting for backlash from viewers when I use it in my videos.

Well, I finally finished this. This took over 2 weeks to do and I'm pretty happy with it. It was fun to make and at the same time, a pain in the ass sometimes. The lasers in the game suck, as they don't behave at all like real lasers. The beams are very short and just stop, whereas real lasers keep going until they hit a surface. The lasers were the same in PC1, but the PC2 versions are even shorter then they were. So this is more a multi-media show than a laser show. I've watched it several times now and made many changes and edits. But in the end, I enjoy watching it and hopefully some others will get enjoyment as well.

Well, they are fairly obscured in the screenshots, as I didn't really want to give away the line up. Also they are actually the single covers, not the albums, so you may not be familiar with them. Not a fan either, but I want entertainers in the park, and I'm stuck with what Frontier gives us. I think the female version looks very androgenous/boyish, so I give it a young male voice. The actual male version is pretty horrible.

The Laserium is getting ready to host its first show. Album covers of the songs featured in the show are on display in the lobby. Monitors have been added outside where guests will queue up for the show. Max Stormcloud, host of the show, will be out front for meet 'n greets. And most important, the shelves are stocked with merchandise for sale at the concession stand.

My videos are meant to showcase my parks first with the humor being secondary. In the last couple of videos, the humor began to overshadow the park showcase, so I've toned it back a bit. Also, I can't come up with something really funny every time. I'm not saying there won't be more zany videos in the future, but just not every video. Mr. Wonder's only published video game, "World Domination Tycoon 3", is an homage to the PC1 version, in which it was also sold at the Video Works shop. I'm not sure who created WDT1 and 2 though. As far as Disney's Head goes, he disappeared long before Stormcloud's appearance. Poor Mr. Wonder seemed genuinely hurt by this. Thank you. Yes, I'm holding off on building the arcade, with the tiniest of hopes that we'll actually get working arcades in the game. And yes, I've found quite a few assets that I'm collecting for use when this doesn't happen. The Eurythmics didn't make it into the the show, so I had to pay homage to them some way, being one of my favorite bands from the 80s. I've been working on the actual show over the last 2 weeks (my most ambitious project yet) and now I've got all those bands and their songs stuck in my head. I'm wondering if anyone noticed the jab at Theme Park Studio...

The Video Works shop is now complete. So, this shop from the original model has undergone a few changes throughout the different versions of the park. It was originally to be a shop that sold video cameras and accessories, as a sort of sister shop to the Camera Shop over at the SpacePort. Well, today, both are pretty obsolete. I converted the Camera Shop into a shop selling digital photo packages. But what to do with the Video Works shop? In the PC1 version, it was a video game shop. But today, not many games are actually sold in stores. PC games are sold online. I guess you can still buy hard copies of console games, but that may not last either. So I did go ahead and offer some video games. But the bigger draw to visit the shop are the photo opportunities for taking selfies. First we have a pair of "old fashioned" photo booths. Then, there's the "Green Screen" where you can choose an image from a collection of locales, and then take a selfie, either with your own phone, or the camera provided. (You'll need to have purchased a digital photo package to use that option.) And finally, there's Wonder Vision 360, where you stand in front of a curved screen and choose from a number of spots from around the park that rotate around you, creating a dizzying video selfie. Also on sale here are souvenirs from the show playing at the Laserium. The full show will be released soon for all to see. Obligatory night shot. Before the official video of the "Back to the 80's" show at the Laserium, we have the "pre-show".

So you're ready to take the plunge to use the scaling mod. I haven't done that yet, as I keep hoping maybe Frontier will give us more robust scaling instead of making us rely on mods. I also don't like using mods early in a game's development, as I'm afraid an update might break them and possibly render my save files unloadable. And maybe the biggest reason is if I started using that mod, I expect my builds would get twice as detailed, take twice as long to build, and further lower the odds that I'll ever finish Wonder World. 😉 Just be careful with the scaling mod, and make sure the .ini file is set to no higher than .05 instead of the default of .10, as this will cause any of the art objects that you may have scaled lower than 10% to scale back up to 10%. (I'm not sure what the latest version is set to)

Thank you, citytrader. I'll try to add more wip screenshots in the future, although I never think about taking pics while I'm building. But I'll try. As for my computer, I did upgrade when I bought PC2, although it was time to do so anyway. It's definitely a high end rig, with one of the fastest CPUs on the market. The graphics card is high end (5070ti RTX) but not top of the line (5090 RTX), as those are ridiculously priced and it would have added a couple grand to the cost. So far I'm getting excellent performance when running this park. I do worry that that won't be the case as the park grows. I'd love to build the entire park on one map, but I'm prepared to split it up if it becomes necessary.

The line-up for the laser show is set and I did a test upload of the soundtrack to Youtube to see what results I'd get concerning copyright stuff. So it appears the video will be blocked in Russia and Belarus. No great loss. The laser show will feature various artists. I will reveal more later. As for the live night shows, no headliner has been chosen yet, but it would most likely be someone or group from the 80s or 90s that is still alive and can only get gigs at small venues and/or theme parks. 😉

Oh damn. I forgot to add restrooms. Because what Wonder World really needs is more restrooms. Honestly, if you can't hold your liquids for a 20 minute show, get yourself a pair of Depends. (Actually, restrooms are planned in a future expansion of the theater in preparation for the nighttime live shows, which will be much longer venues.) A seldom shown wip screenshot.

The LASERIUM is approaching completion. The front building will be a shop and is still a wip. The LASERIUM theater will feature laser shows throughout the day and special live entertainment on select evenings. There are 1267 seats in the auditorium, including handicapped seating. The PC1 version had 684 seats. (and this was originally intended to be smaller 🙃) The RCT3 version featured performances by Kari Oki. The stage and dance floor. But no Kari Oki this time. 😔 The control room. Night time.

These tall flats make up the giant curved screen behind the main stage. I've added more clutter backstage, along with sand bags to help stabilize the flats. This is probably not how modern stage construction is done today, especially on a scale this size. But I based this on the experience from my work in the theater back when I was a youth, when I built and designed scenery for the local community college and later at a small dinner theater. The theater's loading dock. Scooter should probably not venture up those steps. Which is why Mr. Perkins has been hired as the head lighting technician. He's actually the son of good old Mr. Perkins, who is now semi-retired but still works part time over at Lafitte Landing and occasionally at Wonder Beach Boardwalk.

More food! So the main activities available to guests in Wonder World so far are eating and pooping. The candy counter is stocked with my lame attempt at candy bars, along with some chocolate-covered apples and a plate of fresh-baked cookies. Here's an alternate version with a different font for the "Concessions" sign. I can't decide which I like better.

Frontier should take a look at Prehistoric Kingdom. Those devs seems to understand exactly what the sandbox community wants. Three games after Planet Coaster, and I still don't think they get it.

So rumor has it that missionaries tried to bring religion to the heathens in Zimbwowee Village and built this church at the end of the street. But they were quickly booted out, and the church was converted into an ice cream parlor to cater to the increasing tourist trade. Across the street, next door to the bakery, a small building has been erected to feature the town's first exhibit. So apparently, these little critters can commonly be found crawling around in the homes of the local residents. So someone got the idea to collect them up, give them a fancy name, and put them on display for the gullible tourists who think they're viewing some exotic insect. Planet Zoo's exhibits leave little to be desired, as they're way too big for insect displays. The Village Creamery at night.

We're heading into Phase Two of what was the RCT3 version of the park. Unfortunately, I have lost the file and am doing this all from a few screenshots I had taken. Among the lost content was the Park Inspector's Wild Ride. Luckily, I still have the video on Youtube. That said, I will most likely NOT be recreating that ride, as it was an homage to the Water World soap opera where Mr. White was trying to sabotage the park and kill the Park Inspector. I expect there aren't many people around now who remember that, so its best to leave that in the past where it belongs. Moving forward, as we approach the Backwoods area of the park, you'll come across the Aero Gliders. The entrance queue to the attraction with the not-so-subtle covering up of the concrete cylinders Frontier put at the start of each queue. What were those supposed to be anyway? On old pic of the RCT3 version of the queue. My pretty faithful recreation in Planet Coaster.

Unnamed and Unplanned
Looking good so far. I like how the big robotic dog blocks your way. As for suggestions, it's hard to do as I know you're not finished yet. But I'd say some of the scenes could use more detail (maybe more controls panels and blinking lights added to the plain walls) and the lighting in some of the first screenshots seems a little bright. Oh, and more targets. 😁
