Bylateral Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 (edited) Hello everyone! Fiesta Trails is a theme park I started working on about a year and a half ago off and on. Unfortunately, I do not have as much time to play PlanCo nowadays, but when I do it's usually been with this park. I figured now would be a good time to share this park because I feel like I mostly have a plan for everything in the park, but I could still use a little feedback for some of the missing pieces and details I still have to get to. The park itself is meant to be family oriented and inspired by Southwestern American cultures and environments. It's split into 4 themed areas: Old Spanish Village - Front and south area of the park, including the entrance. Complete with Spanish American architecture and the riverwalk that has become the centerpiece of the park. Americana - Central and smallest area of the park. All pathways converge here. Inspired by the typical look of early 20th century American cities. The Hill Country - Northwest side of the park. Western themed with desert vegetation and many changes in elevation. Retroville - Northeast corner of the park. Retro-futuristic inspired theming with many neon lights and quirky architecture. (0% complete as of this post) Here is an overview of the park so far. The park takes up a somewhat small footprint, mostly due to my computer limitations, but it is being built quite dense. There is a train that connects from the entrance of the park to the very back area of The Hill Country. The layout of the train is subject to change as I build Retroville, but for the most part the park will not exceed its radius. Main entrance from inside the park. I thought a train right over the front entrance would be a fun addition. If you see blank billboards, I just simply haven't made graphics for them yet, but I wanted to at least mark where they will be. View to the left after walking in. And view to the right after walking in. My architecture skills in this game could still use some work, but I love how colorful this area looks. Sun Serpent is the only coaster part of the Old Spanish Village. It's located technically below the park entrance. The planter/tree line around the queue will eventually be surrounding most of the entire park. The riverwalk provides some scenic views. For some reason the peeps are obsessed with the restaurant down here and the path gets a little crowded. At the turn of the river you can see people walking, driving cars, and riding in boats to give it a full city feel. View of the Americana area looking south. And looking north past the taxi ride. Taxi rides are my favorite type of ride to build in PlanCo so I wanted to show off some creativity and have it interact with the area. The last part of the ride is a bridge that goes right against a building and over the main central pathway. This firehouse building is actually a theater. It unfortunately doesn't function, but I've never been to a theme park that didn't have live action shows. Inside of the theater. Here is the station for the boat ride - Rio Cruise. The path to the ride actually strays off from The Hill Country, but it's still considered part of the Old Spanish Village because that's where the entire ride travels through. I had to make the water super shallow for simplicity's sake, but I think it still looks fine. Tried my best here to make this not look like a big empty pit. Start of The Hill Country. Felt like the train would get in the way of the coasters too much so I built it inside of the pathway instead. Entrance to the Boomerang coaster - Gunslinger. This was one of the more recent rides I've built in this park, I had an awkward lengthy side of the park between the Old Spanish Village and the wooden coaster and needed something to fill the space. Figured a Boomerang would fit into the space quite nicely. I also just like the look of a Boomerang with the double spike you can see in the sky from almost anywhere. As you can see, I'm also adding test seats and queue wait times as a touch of realisticness, but I don't plan on trying to build as realistic as possible. The start of the wooden coaster - Drill Runner. Fountains go off every time a train is dispatched. The queue entrance is in the side of the cliff. Most scenic portion of the train ride up into the hills and under the log flume. The drop of the log flume is supported by this barbecue restaurant building. I had never used the in-game branding before starting this park, but I think in a lot of places it looks fun. Most theme parks have a lot of billboards in your face to add something to blank walls and areas. Log Flume that is almost complete, just missing some more terraforming and foliage in the back. Love how the splashdown area turned out. Most recent area I've been working on rounding the corner at the edge of the riverwalk. Sun Serpent also has some interactions with the pathway and the train. Another awkward lengthy side of the park, I figured this type of flat ride would fit well here as a center piece to the other end of the river. Building is obviously not finished yet, I built all of this today. I've been using planters a lot to round out most of the chunky landscaping limitations within PlanCo, then I cover up the jagged edges with bushes. Trying my best to make this park look stunning at night as well. If you notice any areas that look too dark, please let me know. I've been making at least one picnic spot per themed area, but unfortunately the peeps do not seem to use them much. The Hill Country also features a small stage for live music. Like the theater, unfortunately not functional. Please let me know what y'all think! I'm open to ideas and feedback. Or if you see any small mistakes in my photos, please point those out too. I've been building this park in random sections, just whatever I feel like at the time, so there are not many attractions that are even fully completed (mostly because I am not in the mood to terraform or place foliage very often lol), but I will get around to all of it eventually! I plan on making a fully detailed map of the park and lengthy Youtube video to show off the park once complete. Edited December 12, 2024 by Bylateral 2 Quote
Wabigbear Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Really well done! I like the interaction you have going between different rides and attractions - the boat ride and the cars along with the train for instance. Your structure building skills aren't bad at all! I don't see boxy buildings and you vary the height and layout quite well, and that's what takes it up a level. If I could offer just one suggestion? The in-game service doors (the white surrounds with a blue door and light above it...) I personally think distract from your theming and the over-all look...they kind of stand out. One could swap them out for a different style, or keep them but add what many theme parks do - a wall to block the view, or a recess in the building to move the door a bit out of sight, maybe mask them a little with some climbing vines or even just an awning over them - any of those would help it to blend in a little more and allow the eye to focus instead on all the other spot-on things you have going... Great job so far...keep it up! Quote

I've been using that door only as entrances for staff buildings because they look like the only door in the game that would require some sort of badge scanner. I just didn't want staff members going through a janky looking wooden door just to fit the theme. I can also see what other types of doors I could play around with, maybe make some sort of really small piece that looks like a scanner. 1 Quote
Wowman Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 great looking park. especially love the little courtyard area. Quote
Wabigbear Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I'm wondering if maybe even covering the white door surround wouldn't help? The blue doors aren't so bad, I think it's the contrast between the white and the blue that stand out perhaps? Quote

I agree, a little carful placement of some wall trims over the while, and even the door itself, but leave the keypad visible. 1 Quote
citytrader Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Love what you've done. Great start! I'm really looking forward to seeing retroville! Your night shots are neat. I like the contrast in the old Spanish warm yellow lights and the city stark white. If I might, love your Spanish Village, however, nothing says old Spain or Mexico better than a ceramic tile roof. You might consider using the in game ridge tiles. I know there are not a lot of pieces, but I think you'll find they look better than the shingle rooves you are using. Quote
wolfpaw Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 That Rio Cruise ride is gorgeous, love how it cuts through the park - sets up for soooo many beautiful shots! Excited to see the finished park, I feel like this is a theme that most don't usually tackle so it's lovely to see! Quote there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really

Appreciate the feedback - I've tried changing up some doors here and there, especially in the older themed areas. I was not able to find something that looked like a scanner, but I was able to find a "staff only" sign that I've been putting in places instead. I tried out some of the ridge tiles and the pieces are very limited, but I found a couple of structures to put them on for a bit of contrast. The park provides for so many scenic opportunities, but dang does it get crowded full of peeps in the middle... With Planet Coaster 2 coming out soon, I'm making it my goal to hopefully have this park finished by the end of the year. I don't get as much free time as I used to, but I feel like I've been making significant progress at filling the leftover space I have. I apologize, I took this round of photos on Medium graphics because that's what I usually play in. Overview of the park so far. Picking up where I left off, here is the finished product of Mal de Ojo. Unfortunately, the peeps rarely make their way to this corner of the park. I expect that to change when I open the coaster in Retroville. The last piece of the Old Spanish Village. I am open to suggestions for the name of the balloon ride. The walk back toward the front entrance. This is the first time I've tried putting this much decoration into a flat ride. I might've gone a little overkill on the flowers, but I think the ride looks a lot nicer than one sitting on a slab of concrete. The Hill Country is basically finished now except for filling in the background with foliage. The terrain smoothing will probably take a long time, you can see how many rocks and planters I've already slapped down trying to cover up all the jagged edges of the terrain. I started small with Retroville to get a feel for how I was going to style everything. The consensus - box shaped buildings and lots of bright colors/neon lights. The final coaster of the park - Neon Blitz. I've also always wanted to make an arcade in PlanCo, I think it fits nicely here. Inside of the arcade. I kept it small, but it's got everything you could want. Every once in a while, some peeps walk in here to use the real claw machines at the back, so it's not totally fake. Maybe not the biggest queue for what will likely be the most popular ride in the park, but I didn't have a lot of space for a queue since I wanted the coaster to have close interaction with everyone walking on the ground. I manually mess with the prices to keep queues about 75% full anyways. Trying to make Retroville as appealing as possible at night. I think Neon Blitz is the perfect coaster to wrap up this area. The train ride does look a little out of place when it comes through here at night, but where else is it supposed to go, you know. I was worried the transition between these 2 areas would look strange, but I think it turned out well. Let me know what y'all think! The park is in its end stages, and I feel like I've really mastered this game, so I'm excited to post more updates until I finish this park and switch over to PlanCo2 next year. 1 1 Quote
Wabigbear Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Nope, no overkill with the flowers, I think that turned out quite well! The transition between those areas works, especially with the multi-colored pennants that blend well with the multi-colored neon. "paseo en globo" is "Balloon ride" in Spanish I believe, "el globo" would be "The Balloon"... Quote
Cinestrio Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 I really enjoy the way your do your pathing, especially the way areas transition. Nice work Quote
TrimoParks Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 What a beautiful park! I really love the concept with the river ride and the car ride right next to it, as well as the riverwalk. Great vibe there! My other favs are the wooden coaster (loving that layout), and Retroville. That area looks so cool and fun at night. Great project! Quote

It's been very tedious putting some of these rides so close together, but I think it's been worth it to make the park feel like a city that's come to life. 1 Quote
Bylateral Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 Hello everyone, the theme park is finished! I am working on making a park map, a pretty lengthy Youtube video for the park, and possibly creating a Steam download for anyone interested. All of which will probably take me a couple more weeks to complete. For now, please enjoy some pictures of the completed park. I apologize for my subpar logo-making skills, I used MS Powerpoint for all of them. Added some ride photo stalls by the exits of Drill Runner and Neon Blitz. Retroville ended up a little smaller than expected. I thought about fitting a dark ride into this area, but the park was already struggling performance wise, so I had to make some cuts. I also added another concert stage to this awkward area in the back of the park. View of the whole park from the top of Driller Runner. I had to keep it simple with the background area for performance reasons, so it's mainly just a planter wall with a couple rows of bushes/trees behind it. If there's any other areas you'd like to see more of, let me know and I can put them in the next post! 1 2 Quote
Wabigbear Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Congrats on finishing the park! It's always a good feeling when one can decide "yep...this one is done!" So great job! You did nice work on the lighting, the night-time screenshots really show it off to good effect. Lot's of nice detailing. That last screens shows just how much you managed to get in there - impressive and done really well. Quote
wolfpaw Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 This is a beautiful park - I love compact park layouts, they are just so beautiful see. For some reason my favorite is that diner building you've made, it just screams nostalgia for some reason, haha Quote there's this illusion of the reality, but it's not really really real, like it's beside and inside and inside and beside, but never on top.. nevermind, just kidding but not really
TrimoParks Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Just wonderful. The "three-dimensional" layout with all the bridges is really well done, and I love especially that night shot with the boat ride and the wave swinger above. Great use of space, very efficient and effective! Quote

Just a few notes: Most off-ride footage is slightly sped up to help with FPS issues as my computer struggled to run this park with peeps in it. All coaster POVs were filmed without peeps in the park for the best FPS possible. Timestamps have been added in the Youtube comments. I did download a few pre-made structures off Steam and a lot of custom scenery. I can send download links on request. 1 1 Quote
JB Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Took me a couple of days to watch the entire video, but I'm glad I did! I love "walking through the park" videos. I think my favorite coaster was Drill Runner. I have a weakness for wooden coasters, and I liked the theming. My favorite area was Retroville, especially at night with all the neon lit up. 1 Quote
